Absolutely. Like he said, that's just what "mid-grade" is: a mixture of higher and lower octane gas. Feel free to use whatever mixture works for you.
ETA: I just saw regular unleaded for $3.59⁹ in Chicago...usually the price differential is not quite so much. Makes me glad that I usually fill up close to home, whenever possible.
