I don’t think we should drag oldr into this conversation; we don’t actually know if he still supports Trump, but we do know it was politics that drove him away from here and it appears he’s interested in visiting but not re-entering that fray. I can respect that.
If he does still support Trump I can’t say I respect that or understand it, but if he’s not shoving Trumpism and lies in my face like wesw, I can give him a pass on reminding him every time he pops up that his politics at present are, IMNSHO, very misguided.

While we have a few Trump supporters hereabouts, what we don't seem to have are any Trump defenders... (Welcome back Guin, BTW )
I see plenty of attacks on the folks Trump doesn't like, and a willingness to embrace the diversions and deflections du jour emanating from Trumpistan, but it's been a long time since I've seen anyone actually step up and champion Trump's words and deeds...
So come on fellas, who'd like to be the first to step up and say, "Trump's call with Zelinsky was perfect, just like he says. There was nothing wrong with him withholding approved military aid from an ally opposing Russian aggression until that ally agreed to announce that they were investigating his political opponent. Perfectly ok to do that, he should do it again."
No one gets a pass for actively supporting the destruction of our Constitution and the parade of resulting horribles, as a result of voting for Trump. The blood is on their hands.

I understand that sentiment, Guin, and I share it wholeheartedly. I thought I made a clear distinction between giving a pass for Trump support v giving a pass by not actively confronting someone about their politics every time they post.
I believe all current Trump supporters should be ashamed of their failure to put country/Constitution ahead of partisan politics. I don’t know if oldr is a current Trump supporter, he doesn’t seem interested in engaging in that conversation and I’m not going to be the one to push the issue.
If that makes me less the patriot, so be it.

I tried to come up with something admirable about Trump and remembered how I thought when he was running for president he seemed very caring and protective of his family. Soon after he was elected it occurred to me that he isn't protecting them, he's protecting himself. Any one of them could easily destroy him if they were to speak out against him.
Dead children in camps. Although we know you, like your hero, don’t consider them human. Dead Kurds. Same analysis. Dead journalists. But you probably approve of bonesaw dismemberment of journalists and truth-seekers. Dead children in our schools.
Enough, or should I go on and on and on.

Thus far?
If you’re only voting old white men you are beyond hope. What a shame. I thought you had actually learned something.

I agree; I too knew he'd gotten straight prior to 2016 (I've followed his eponymous thread) but it was too good a quip to let go by.
As for the rest of what you said, I too will follow that policy. -"BB"-
Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

Yes he did. Thus my point concerning voting only for an old white man this time around. I thought he actually learned something in 2016, but apparently not. I mean really “not thus far” seem to imply there are conditions under which he would consider voting for Trump. And that is not good enough.

I explained, and wesw went right on to his immature, sexist insults. See e.g. “shrill” and “hysterical”
Some things never change.

I haven’t posted here in 5 months, nor have I addressed a single comment to oldr. So how exactly is that “actively confronting” him? That he voted for Trump last time is a fact. If he can’t handle what comes along with that, then he should have made a different choice.

He's also been calling me "shrill" and "hysterical"...
Ahh, well, he’s also parroting his master, who uses that same language.
Irony really is dead, isn’t it?

I wasn’t talking about you, or accusing you of anything - I was talking about MY choice to not confront oldr - MY choice to give him a pass on being confronted about politics where he clearly wants to stay out of that conversation.
