Don't know if I'm an idot yet, but after five decades of living the terribleness of American politics, I'm leaning more toward an Elvis Costello philosophy of government (i.e., I used to be disgusted, now I try to be amused).

I don't know a single Dem who would love to see Sarah Palin nominated for anything (including dog catcher).

But I do agree with Sue, about the fluidity of politics, and the current level of insanity. To wit -- my beloved Maine:

Election 2010: Maine Governor (June 11, 2010 numbers)

Paul LePage (R)
43% (Mr. Tea Party)

Libby Mitchell (D)
36% (Former majority leader in state House and Senate)

Eliot Cutler (I)
7% (relatively middle of the road, former Dem, and this is a state that likes to elect Independent executives)

The number of LePage signs when I was up there for the fourth were painful to see.

Pretty Bad 2012 numbers for Obama

With his approval numbers hitting new lows it's no surprise that Barack Obama's numbers in our monthly look ahead to the 2012 Presidential race are their worst ever this month. He trails Mitt Romney 46-43, Mike Huckabee 47-45, Newt Gingrich 46-45, and is even tied with Sarah Palin at 46. [oh my... ] The only person tested he leads is Jan Brewer, who doesn't have particularly high name recognition on the national level at this point.

Coming from the person that defends the Burka.. Mitt Romney has never had multiple wives heck he's never had more than one wife not to mention the Mormon church hasn't supported polygamy for over 100 years.

If I read that so-called "defense" correctly, it is more of a defense to permit anyone to wear what they want, not a defense of the burka. Indeed, I don't think anyone here has ever defended the wearing of the burka as something desirable.

Oh yeah, Guin, I totally forgot about the whole magic underwear thing. If the 2012 election comes down to a choice between the Kenyan nigruh Muslin and the lefty-poof Latter Day Satanist, my bet is that a lot of the GOP teabagging "base" will be staying away from the polls.

Wake up look who started the thread! WHat I am objecting to is exactly what you were objecting to in the burka thread the application of baseless and meaningless vitrol that really adds nothing to the discussion.

Frankly it surprises the hell out of me that you'd go there considering the font of shortcomings Mitt has. I mean Mitt has Flip flopped on so many issues so often I'm surprised someone at MIT hasn't been able to harness him into some sort of perpetual energy generator.
