Only 3,000 when the hospital in Chicago is doing between 400 and 600 antibody tests a day? Let's not get ahead of ourselves, Andy. We don't want to move tooooo fast. Faster than a New York minute may be long gone.

I'm glad L.A. county is going pedal to the metal on testing.

"April 21 (UPI) -- New York started collecting blood samples Monday from 3,000 randomly selected people for antibody testing as part of its response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The results may provide a more accurate assessment of how many have been infected with the new coronavirus, but could also serve as a platform for research into potential treatments."

I'm surprised to see you applauding expanded testing Darren...

You do realize that expanded testing will reduce the number of deaths? I thought you were more a "deaths be damned" kinda guy...

Meanwhile, if you believe it, people are getting restive. In America with only 450 million guns and counting there's no way a bunch of twerps are going to scare the bejezzus out of electees.

Must be fake news.

Expert Says U.S. is on the Brink of “Mass Civil Unrest”

Has friends on Capitol Hill concerned about violence.

"Speaking to Sky News Australia, James Brown, a former Australian Army officer who commanded a cavalry troop in southern Iraq, said that the very specific mentality of Americans made them much more likely to rebel against lockdown measures compared to citizens of other countries.

“There is that part of the US political psyche that takes rights to a complete extreme,” said Brown, adding that “mass civil unrest” is an ever present possibility due to Americans sharing a “deep independent streak that believes the government is a nice-to-have not a must-have.”"

"RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — The Nevada State Public Health Lab announced today that they are conducting COVID-19 testing by way of real-time polymerase chain reaction (RTPCR), which is a form of testing that detects the virus itself.

According to the lab, in the coming weeks, they will begin a new form of testing, which includes detection of antibodies to the SARS-CoV-2 virus."

Darren, that's interesting.

How much "mass civil unrest" do you think we'll need to make America great again?

I'm guessing that will continue until the governors have no choice except to get the Naugahyde chair upholstery extracted from their butt cracks.

They obviously had the atta boys to get elected. Those that have hopes of a continued spot on the public tit may cave sooner. Gotta build those atta boys up again.

Thankfully, those who want to see restrictions lifted before it is safe to do so remain a small lunatic fringe.

And if they insist on pressing the point, watching the blood of a few thousand of them running into the sewers would be a good start, and a lesson to anyone that might choose to imitate them.

"Washington Governor Jay Inslee’s draconian executive orders mandating business closures and stay-at-home status for all residents has been rejected by county commissioners in Franklin County. The motion passed unanimously. Now, the legal battles may or may not begin but in the immediate future, the county is official reopened for business."

Here a test, there a test, everywhere a test, test.

We're getting ready to roll the dice. I'm thinking they're loaded to win. You?

"Even greater interest surrounds a different set of antibodies that could reveal whether a person is protected from contracting COVID-19 again. Betting that antibody tests will loom large in the fight against the pandemic, clinics and labs affiliated with hospital networks in Virginia, Washington, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio have already invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in equipment and infrastructure to run the tests at scale."

If only that list included some of the states that are determined to put their populace in jeopardy by relaxing restrictions prematurely. But if you don't care how many people die...

UPMC says feared coronavirus surge ‘simply hasn’t happened’, will resume elective surgeries

"UPMC said Tuesday the predicted surge of COVID-19 patients hasn’t arrived and cases are on the decline in central and western Pennsylvania.

In light of that, UPMC plans to resume some of the elective surgeries that were canceled as the result of government directives to conserve beds and supplies for COVID-19 patients.

“The very high surge we prepared for simply hasn’t happened,” said Dr. Donald Yealy, UPMC’s chair of emergency medicine."

I will grudgingly give credit to Trump for one thing.  Even though he's been talking out of his ass most of the time on this coronavirus crisis, at least he hasn't suggested nuking the virus to stop it like he did when he proposed using nuclear weapons to eliminate, weaken, or divert a hurricane.

Trump seemed to be hinting around at today's propaganda show that he may be telling the Butcher Of Georgia in a phone call to reconsider his mass murder plan...

Trump trapped the governors into assuming their rightful responsibility. What's happening now is rural areas are super angry at governors making decisions based only the big cities. Check my post about UPMC telling the Pennsylvania governor to take a hike.

As much as Democrats were hoping for a depression they've further solidified Trump's base by fear mongering.

After May 1 when the restart picks up steam, Trump has China as a much disliked whipping boy to further garner support. I wouldn't be surprised if Europe sucks up to Trump to go after China.

We already have one state initiated lawsuit against China. Lawyers are going to lawyer and Trump will be egging them on.

China ain't doing too good in the polls.
