FiveThirtyEight now has Hillary winning by only ONE electoral vote.

The debate tonite seems to be crucial. On CNN and MSNBC I have been watching spinners for the Donald hitting hard that fact-checking should be forbidden for the moderator. Both people behind the podium are isolated from any electronic aids to actually do any fact-checking. The moderator is not. So The Trumpeters seem to me to be afraid of solid information during the broadcast.

Lots of pretty sharp experts have said the debates are won and lost on appearance. Policy statements, detailed plans and programs, are not persuasive. "Impressions" are what counts for most voters. "Can the Donald be a good president?" is of no importance.

The question tonite is "Can he play one on tv?"

TRUMP THREATENS TO SKIP REMAINING DEBATES IF HILLARY IS THERE

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (The Borowitz Report)—Plunging the future of the 2016 Presidential debates into doubt, Donald J. Trump said on Tuesday morning that he would not participate in the remaining two debates if Hillary Clinton is there.

Trump blasted the format of Monday night’s debate by claiming that the presence of Clinton was “specifically designed” to distract him from delivering his message to the American people.


“Every time I said something, she would say something back,” he said. “It was rigged.”

He also lambasted the “underhanded tactics” his opponent used during the debate. “She kept on bringing up things I said or did,” he added. “She is a very nasty person.”

Turning to CNN, Trump criticized the network’s use of a split screen showing both him and Clinton throughout the telecast. “It should have been just me,” he said. “That way people could have seen how really good my temperament is.”

The billionaire said that debate organizers had not yet responded to his ultimatum, but he warned that if he does not get assurances in writing that future debates will be “un-rigged, Hillary-wise,” he will not participate.

“I have said time and time again that I would only do these debates if I am treated fairly,” he added. “The only way I can be guaranteed of being treated fairly is if Hillary Clinton is not there.”

Donald Trump on Saturday appeared to accuse Hillary Clinton of cheating on her husband, former President Bill Clinton.

“Hillary Clinton’s only loyalty is to her financial contributors and to herself. I don’t even think she’s loyal to Bill, if you want to know the truth,” the Republican nominee told the crowd at a rally in Manheim, Pennsylvania.

“And really, folks, why should she be, why should she be.”

Trump indicated earlier Saturday that he is considering launching a wider attack on his opponent on Bill Clinton’s sex scandals before and during his time as president. It’s the first time he’s intimated that the Democratic nominee could have been unfaithful to her husband.

The attacks come after a week of Clinton targeting Trump with past comments he made about former Miss Universe Alicia Machado, which she initially raised at Monday's first presidential debate.

Both campaigns have launched ads targeting female voters in recent days, with Trump focusing on his childcare tax credit and paid maternity leave plan. Clinton's ads have focused on past comments Trump has made about women.

During the rally, Trump also appeared to do an impression of Clinton’s visible stumble as she was ushered away from a 9/11 memorial event in New York City.



"Here's a woman, she's supposed to fight all these different things and she can't make it 15 feet to her car, give me a break," he said. [The widely expressed consensus that she looked far more healthy and vigorous at last week's debate than he did is obviously irking him...]
