US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump will host the comedy show Saturday Night Live next month, the NBC network says.

Mr Trump, the frontrunner for his party's candidacy, will present the show for the second time on 7 November.

In June, NBC dropped the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants co-owned by Mr Trump after he made "derogatory statements" about immigrants.

Mr Trump said he was looking forward to taking part in the programme.

He last hosted the comedy show in April 2004.

NBC had faced pressure from Hispanic advocacy groups to drop Mr Trump's shows after his comments about Mexicans caused a storm in the summer.

After cancelling the broadcasts, the network said "respect and dignity for all people" were "cornerstones of our values".

Mr Trump continues to lead polls, but some indicate that Ben Carson, a retired neurosurgeon, is narrowing the gap with the businessman.

Hillary Clinton, who heads polls for the Democratic nomination, appeared on Saturday Night Live last month, playing a bartender named Val.

I guess you could describe Ben Carson as a sort of a brainiac ;), but Trump is simply trying to out-Obama the field as the next celebrity POTUS.

big RR, I can t remember which thread we were talking in so I came here.

look, I understand and agree about the huge blowhard thing. it is purposeful. it is a tool.

I understand trump, I understand gamblers and hustlers. he is a gambler, but not a hustler. he tells you straight up that he is good. I did the same thing playing pool. I would tell them, "no I m not a hustler, I m good, anything that isn t for money is just practice". "lessons aren t free"
"wanna play for 100? no. 20? ok, we ll just shoot for 5...."

it works wonders. and cards..., I may be able to beat trump at cards, but he has a confidence that only the house can have. he is the bank, the house, and if he goes no limit on your ass, you have to back down. you either take your meager winnings and go home or you play his game, and risk everything. if he had the bank that is the US behind him it would be very difficult to be on the other side of the table from him in any negotiation

and you have to understand the sales aspects of his positions. he goes into it like a used car sale, asking for the moon and settling for what he can get. I ve never paid sticker at a used car lot and the Mexicans won t either.

he says "mexico will pay for the wall" he doesn t mean that they will pony up cash, he says that everyone must go first, and then come back, he doesn t mean that he won t strike a deal.

he will get the wall built and just stick it to the Mexicans in trade issues and call it "they paid for the wall" he will settle for a whole lot less than rounding up 12 M people and sending them across the border until they check out. he will set some timeline for declaring their presence and identity and go from there...

anyway, I don t want him to be president, but if he wants to serve his country, the country that made him rich, god bless him. put him in a position where he can be effective and get things done. the man has a certain brilliance.

Oh cute evasion tactic. I can't remember where the discussion was so i'll move it so I don't have to actually respond to the comments.

do we really want to start implying that people are crazy bigsky?

I will travel two miles down that road with you if you want to go a mile...., please put me back on ignore.

guin, I m no lawyer, I just wanted to continue a discussion I was having with RR. I find him to be the most reasonable person on the board and I value his opinion. he discusses things with me as an equal, without any elitist condescending better than you mentality. (as you do..., sometimes)

jim, I appreciate your confidence in me. you are correct, I am an honest moron.

To clarify, wes, I take mental illness seriously and try hard not to use terminology belittling folks who suffer from it.

The 'loon' emoticon here is one I don't use in reference to real mental illness, but rather thinking (or actions) that I consider moronic.

Since you just acknowledged being a moron, I don't think we have anything to argue about. :shrug

No worries, mate.

well, perhaps if you considered people you disagree with as just wrong about an issue or even questioned their motives, it might be better than considering them moronic, and there fore unworthy of anything but contempt.

There are things about you that are far from contemptible, wes. I don't consider you worthy of nothing but contempt.

But seriously you sometimes post some very dumb things, like your statements about Libya which prove your ignorance for events and facts.

Your opinion/perception of Donald Trump's fitness to serve as a statesman is equally delusional, IMHO.

We agree to disagree.

I have agreed to nothing.

I m talking about how you view people in general, and how it effects you and them. i couldn t care less about how you view me.

viewing yourself as some superior being is unwise and unhealthy, and just plain wrong.

I don't, at all. I'm sorry if my confident way of writing my opinions made you think so, but I consider myself superior to nobody - I'm just me, of equal value to the 7 billion other 'mes' on the planet.

Well, there's me and I'm worth more than the other 6.99999999999999999999999999 billion. So either you and I are at the top of the value index or you're wrong in one case

ya know..., I m not a trump fan, tho I do recognize his political genius, but this thing about muslim registry and religious ID cards is manufactured. it s bull.

I heard the clip of the original exchange and trump said none of that. the reporter suggested both ideas and tried to get trump to comment on them.

trump was ambiguous at worst. he just said, "we will have to do a lot of things" in response. he knew it was a gotcha question and he did not say anything like he was portrayed as saying

just sayin'......
