The GOP has five current candidates, who if they can get through the nominating process, could actually stand a chance of winning a general election:

Jeb Bush
Marco Rubio
John Kasich
Chris Christie
Lindsey Graham


Looking at the latter two, Christie is just barely hanging on, and Graham is an asterisk in the polls...

(That's a damn shame...Lindsey Graham is a serious, intelligent, articulate, experienced, thoughtful person with a lot to offer as a Presidential candidate...There's something seriously wrong with our political system when a guy like him can't even get a hearing in the debates, while know-nothing ying yangs like Trump and Carson dominate the discussion)

Ted Cruz is a brilliant (Harvard Law grad, clerked for William Rehnquist, won five out of nine cases he personally argued before the SC as Solicitor General of Texas in his 30s...you don't rack up that kind of record by being stupid...) but completely amoral person who believes in nothing but the further betterment of Ted Cruz...

I think Cruz is a high functioning sociopath...(If so, he wouldn't be the first high functioning sociopath we've had in the White House, but we really don't need another one)

That leaves Bush, Rubio and Kasich...

In the best of all possible worlds, my first choice would be Kasich...

But we don't live in the best of all possible worlds, we live in the real world, and in looking at the numbers, I think the time is coming for all responsible, grown-up, Reagan Republicans to rally around Marco...

For one thing, she's definitely not going to go after Rubio on personal finances...

The woman who claimed she turned $1000 into $100,000 in a single day on cattle futures because she "read The Wall Street Journal?"

A person who was making $300,000 per personal appearance, (Not to mention all the money her husband and their foundation was raking in)

is going to go after a guy who used an $800,000 book advance to spend 50K on a boat, paid off his student loans, and put the rest of it in a trust to pay for his kids college education, and still has a mortgage he's paying on his one house?

Personal finances are not a winning issue for Team Clinton...

I'm sure they would prefer not to go there...

In a Clinton-Rubio general election match up, the Clintonistas will attempt to portray Rubio as too "right wing"...

They'll go to the tried and true Democratic "elect the Republican, and Gramma will be thrown out into the street" strategy they've run in every election cycle since 1964...

And to that they'll add, "Marco Rubio hates women; he wants them to die in back alley abortions"...

But that's the kind of garbage any Republican candidate can expect...
