Apparently a civics lesson is in order...

Far from being "nuisance lawsuits" lawsuits challenging EOs are an essential part of our system of checks and balances...

They provide a legal platform for the judicial branch to check attempts at Presidential overreach...

(Yes, I know you don't believe there should be any checks on your Maximum Leader's exercise of power, but tough titty...)

I'll give you an excellent recent example of how this works...

Obama's executive order attempting to create under "prosecutorial discretion" a whole new government program that wasn't authorized by Congress that would have provided quasi-legal status to millions of illegal aliens (complete with social security cards)

A group of 26 state governors joined in a lawsuit to challenge the order. An appellate court upheld their challenge, and a 4-4 divided Supreme Court refused (rightly in my view) to overrule that decision, and the implementation of that EO was blocked.

During the Bush administration, there were challenges to EOs regarding the legal rights of Gitmo detainees, and as a result portions of those EOs were struck down.

Not all legal challenges to EOs are successful, but as I said they are an essential part of our democratic process, not "nuisance suits". That characterization bespeaks a fundamental ignorance of how our system works. (which is hardly surprising, considering the source...)

And since there is every indication that this President is going to press the outer boundaries of Executive authority to a greater extent than any other President in modern times, these challenges are all the more essential.

I am happy to see all of his power-extending EOs challenged, even those that he issues the intent of which I may agree with.(Like the one seeking to end the "sanctuary cities" policy where municipal governments take it upon themselves to refuse to co-operate with federal law enforcement)
