Darren, does your Doc play golf, too? Does she have a better game than this guy?

Re: From The Lancet
The way Darren carries on about this 'Doc' character, I'm surprised he hasn't yet mentioned her Bracelets of Submission, her Lasso of Truth, or her invisible jet.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?
Re: From The Lancet
Doc was a long distance runner and still ran until maybe six years ago. She was also a good swimmer.
One of her funnier stories, IIRC, is about beating the hell out of a bully who was pounding on a weaker kid in the fifth grade. The teachers saw her as the aggressor, broke up the fight and sent her to the principal's office.
The principal chewed her out for fighting and remarked at the end of the lecture that based on her dirty and scuffed shoes she'd never amount to anything. The bully stayed far away after his playground "lecture".

Darren, remember the old "After School Specials" on TV? Every "Doc" episode you write contains at least one of the seven conflict elements, yet in the end, the main character triumphs and is accepted by their peers.
It's amazing how fiction and nonfiction can parallel itself in such detail. Keep up the good work. Not.

Darrin is in league for a "Pull-itzer" Prize.
Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

At one time Doc was one of three women in the world with these two degrees.

Re: From The Lancet
I wonder if you realize that any half assed investigator could figure out her identity with just that much information? Luckily I’m sure no one here means her any ill will, but I think if Doc exists and cares about her privacy, it’s worth noting that reality.

Re: From The Lancet
She earned the degrees before the internet. Someone might figure out the ID but it wouldn't be as simple as getting a social security number. BTW Doc approved the post and got the sheepskins out.BoSoxGal wrote: ↑Mon May 18, 2020 12:23 amI wonder if you realize that any half assed investigator could figure out her identity with just that much information? The photograph w/names pages of the vet med classes at Texas A&M are digitized online - most universities have these materials digitized going back to 1900, as does A&M. There aren’t that many Gwendolyns in her graduating class. Again, just giving you a head’s up, as I suspected you both might be naive of this reality.

Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.
Re: From The Lancet
I always believed Doc was a real person but half the shit you attribute/claim of her err not so much. Ex: weren’t you claiming she was in an interment camp not that long ago? Not to mention dr Fauci etc...
To put if shortly you’re so full of shit you put septic tanks to shame.

I have the same opinion as Crackpot. The person may be real but I find it hard to believe that the legend exists.

Hmm. Degrees in Veterinary Medicine and a PhD in Philosophy? Excellent credentials for an existential dog whisperer.
How is it possible that this woman puts up with your shit, plus live in a trailer camp with you? Has she not saved up for a proper retirement?
I'm still dubious.

I expected to be placed in an air force combat position such as security police, forward air control, pararescue or E.O.D. I would have liked dog handler. I had heard about the dog Nemo and was highly impressed. “SFB” is sad I didn’t end up in E.O.D.
Re: From The Lancet
Gwendolyn? Good Welsh name that.
Origin of the name Gwendolyn:
English variant of the Welsh Gwendolen (fair-browed), a compound name composed of the elements gwen, gwyn (white, fair, blessed) and dolen (brows, eyebrows).

Re: From The Lancet
You probably already know that a PhD is the terminal degree in all fields, from actual philosophy to epidemiology - I seem to recall Darren mentioning a hard science as her PhD focus, which makes sense following up a DVM.RayThom wrote: ↑Mon May 18, 2020 1:53 amHmm. Re: From The Lancet
Doc and I thank you for your concerns. The photos will stay. I may post a photo of Doc in her Navy uniform if we can find it.
As a mother with three kids at home, the need to study, do research and take weekly tests Doc never participated in other university activities like undergraduates do.
After the two terminal degrees, Doc later considered getting an MD but in those days opportunities for women were limited. She was "told" she would not be allowed to get another terminal degree.
After much angst in the university administration she was allowed into the nursing program when she was in her early 50's. She completed that through the masters level and became a family nurse practitioner.
Since grades were posted with the last four of the SS#, no one in the class knew who was blowing the curve out. She made sure she never raised suspicions. It wasn't until she showed up at graduation wearing the regalia of a PhD that her classmates got one of the shocks of their lives.
