There are now 1700 + law professors who have signed the letter which says that Kavanaugh should not be approved because he lacks judicial temperament.

I didn't know that there were 1700 law professors in the country.

If Kavanaugh is confirmed, the more it is likely to motivate the anti-Kavanaugh constituencies to come to the polls for the midterms and the better the Dems performance in the close Senate races is likely to be...

If Kavanaugh is not confirmed the more likely it is to motivate those angered at his nomination's rejection to turnout and the worse the Dems performance in the close Senate races is likely to be...

(The House is likely lost to the GOP either way, though the number of seats could also be impacted...)

As a driver of voter turnout, "fear and anger" is always a lot stronger than "happiness with the results"...
