Did you ever find that proof that Paul Krugman lied?
Yes I did rube, and presented it repeatedly. That was really one of your most hilariously moronic episodes; a true classic, where you kept saying over and over again that you couldn't see it...

Smart move, and pretty much the only one he had to make....

http://thehill.com/homenews/house/25754 ... conditions
Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) told the House GOP conference that he will run for Speaker if every caucus endorses him.

Ryan made the pledge during a presentation behind closed-doors in which he outlined how he could be convinced to run for the chamber's top job.

He also gave the House GOP until Friday to rally around him.

Ryan told his GOP colleagues: "I know this sounds conditional, because it is," according to a source in the room.

A spokesman for Ryan immediately after the meeting said Ryan will only run if his colleagues accept his as a "unity candidate" who is backed by centrists and conservatives in the House.

"Unless the speaker is a unifying figure across the conference, he or she will face the same challenges that have beset our current leadership," spokesman Brendan Buck said.
He said Ryan "encouraged the members to discuss and consider his requests, and he asked that they make clear whether they support them by this Friday."

"If the members agree with his requests and share his vision, and if he is a unity candidate—with the endorsement of all the conference’s major caucuses—then he will serve as speaker. He will be all in," Buck said. "But if he is not a unifying figure for the conference, then he will not run and will be happy to continue serving as chairman of the Ways and Means Committee."

The spokesman insisted Ryan's comments did not announce a final decision on a run for the Speakership, but Ryan's views on what it would take for the next Speaker to be successful.
The Ways and Means Committee chairman has been under pressure to run for Speaker for more than a week after the surprise decision by House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) to bow out of the race to succeed Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio).

Conservatives, however, have been sending lukewarm signals to Ryan, suggesting they would not back him for Speaker unless he agreed to significant concessions that would give more power to the House rank-and-file.

Ryan supporters had separately made it known that he would not take the job unless he had the full support of his conference — not just the bare minimum of 218 GOP votes needed for election.

FreeDum caucus, ball is in your court....
I'd be perfectly happy if the Kamikaze Caucus, Donald Trump, Ben Carson, (and throw in Ted Cruz for good measure) were all signed up for the first manned mission to Mars...

What those yo-yos in the "Freedom Caucus" will do is anyone's guess, but I fully approve of Ryan's approach. They expected him to come to them on bended knee, (just like they demanded of McCarthy) and he made clear he would have none of that.

The self-righteous Kamikazes have a delusional sense of their own importance and a childish sense of their right to be kowtowed to. It's high time somebody put them in their place.

Good luck thinking they will act rationally. They haven't yet, and I'm not sure they have any incentive to do so. The Republicans need to figure out either how to manage them, or how to kick them out of the party. I'm hoping for the latter.

Boehner had a chance to sever the Tea Party loonies based on the issues last year before the midterm elections then wussed out and said that "they really aren't all that different on the issues". I posted this last year.

Boehner: Tea party and GOP aren't that different
Posted by
CNN's Deirdre Walsh and Dana Davidsen

(CNN) - House Speaker John Boehner said Tuesday the tea party and conservative Republicans are basically one in the same.

As establishment Republican candidates try to fend off a series of tea party challengers in Tuesday's midterm primaries, Boehner sought to quell the apparent divide between the two factions in his caucus.

"I think the tea party has brought great energy to our political process," the Ohio congressman said when asked about Tuesday's contests.

"You get in these primary elections – they are hard-fought battles and sometimes – listen, there is not that much, not that big a difference between what you call the tea party and your average conservative Republican," he said, pointing to the GOP's near-unanimous opposition to Obamacare, tax increases and an overbearing federal government.

Boehner's assurance comes after the 12-term Republican lawmaker easily defeated two tea party-backed candidates in his Ohio district earlier this month.

"Great energy" like Boko Haram.

The GOP have a history of being willing to suck up to any bloc of voters no matter how bigoted, racist, isolationist or hateful. No principles, no spine.

Politico is reporting that only 2/3 of the FreeDums will support Ryan and they require 80% for an endorsement.

So, what's next?

Politico now reports Ryan moves ahead with vote on speakership anyway (he has enough votes - but his condition isn't met). So, FreeDums have their cake and eat it too. They don't glob up the speaker selection process any longer, but they aren't committed to support Ryan, either.

2/3 means that they're accepting his conditions...

And he has all 209 other votes in The Caucus...

Looks like the Kamikazes blinked... :ok

The Kamikazes wanted the power of The Speaker reduced...

Ryan insisted that as a condition of him agreeing to take the job, that it be enhanced...

That the ability of a minority within the Caucus to declare The Speaker position "vacant" be severely circumscribed...

Otherwise, (as Ryan correctly put it) "no one in their right mind would take this job"....

I don't think they blinked at all, but I'm sure it gives your comfort to believe so. 80% of the caucus is required for an endorsement. They aren't endorsing Ryan as a caucus, which means, as a caucus, they owe him nothing, and can continue to wreak havoc.

Which is where I think this is all going. Nov 5. Its not just Guy Fawkes night.....
