Re: The price of bigotry
It's people who have to give their bigotry the colour of law that have "gone there". Joe's post raises an interesting question, because short of administering a DNA test to everyone who needs to use a bathroom, how do those advancing such laws purport to enforce them?

Re: The price of bigotry
Let me try to understand one thing about transgender persons. They have decided for themselves that the gender they were assigned at birth, based on physical manifestations on their body (if you've got a twig and berries you're male; if you don't you're female), is incorrect and that they are 'a man trapped in a woman's body' ... or vice versa. So they now declare that, despite all evidence to the contrary, that they are not male or female and in some cases engage in body modifications (see Brucella Jenner) to better fit them with what their own infallible mind is telling them.
This makes almost as much sense as if I were to start to wear a collar and get a tail surgically implanted and claim to be a cocker spaniel who will hereinafter be known as "Lassie".

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

Sit!

What's that Lassie Bill? Caitlyn fell into a hole in an outhouse?
Which one?
Which one?

You're right Bill, that would be ridiculous...this makes almost as much sense as if I were to start to wear a collar and get a tail surgically implanted and claim to be a cocker spaniel who will hereinafter be known as "Lassie".
Everybody knows Lassie was a collie...

I'm not responding because there is no way that I could be even a tenth as insulting as you deserve.

BB, transgender issues are accepted medical conditions, so simply pointing to anatomical differences ignores the considerable research on this. They "haven't decided for themselves" and "not all evidence" is to the contrary. As usual, complicated situations do not have simple solutions, except in the minds of simple people (and I generally don't count you in that category).

Male if I'm not mistaken, I'd wager that s/he would have no problem where to go.Everybody knows Lassie was a collie...
Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

Re: The price of bigotry
That is correct:Male if I'm not mistaken
http://www.lassieweb.org/lassfact.htmAll the dogs portraying Lassie have been male. A female collie was hired to play the lead in Lassie Come Home, but when an opportunity came to film "Lassie" negotiating some rapids, the female reportedly would have nothing to do with the rushing water. Rudd Weatherwax's collie "Pal" was substituted, and not only stole the stunt but won the role.
Weatherwax continued to use male collies in the role for a good reason: both sexes shed in the summer (when most movies and television shows traditionally film most of their episodes), an event called "blowing coat," but since the male has thicker fur, he wouldn't look so scrawny during filming. Also, fans tend to think of Lassie as a "big heroic dog." Female collies are usually 10-15 pounds lighter than their male counterparts, therefore a male dog playing Lassie would look more impressive. Female collies were not ignored because they are any less intelligent; in fact, some of Lassie's stunt doubles have been females.

What I was trying to point out is that just as I cannot alter my genetic makeup to become a dog or cat or Shetland pony — no matter what I may do at the surface, psychological, or endocrinological level — neither can someone like Chastity Bono or Bruce Jenner (or their less-famous confreres) alter their genetic makeup to become male or female.Long Run wrote:BB, transgender issues are accepted medical conditions, so simply pointing to anatomical differences ignores the considerable research on this. It's kinda like this —

It's had a facelift and it's got a new name on the side, but underneath it's still a VW 'Beetle'.

if a transgender person (or scooter) is a prick, then they cut off their penis, do you have to call them an asshole instead now?
it s all so confusing......
so in Mississippi, now, you can refuse service to assholes, and to those who service them?

Ringo Starr, musician and famed former member of iconic band The Beatles, has announced he will cancel a planned concert in North Carolina over the state’s newly enacted anti-LGBT bill, HB 2.
ABC News broke the story on Twitter, sharing a statement sent out by Starr.
The statement read, “Like Bruce Springsteen and other fellow artists, Ringo stand with those fighting against the bigotry of HB 2.”

If Ringo wants to punish 'em he should add venues
