I can't stand Cruz. If I was in the same room as him, I'd knock him over the head with a ten foot pole. He's a disgusting person and continues to look like he sniffs bicycle seats.

The funny thing is that when he finally stood up and did something semi-admirable by standing up for his family, his party booed him off the stage.

They don't want admirable, they want Donald!!

The tv reality show from Cleveland is finally over. The best part for me, was the Cobert show after the local news, which actually came on early this morning, local East Coast time. John Stewart showed up, in a t-shirt and scruffy beard, and did a monologue on the convention.
His point that hit me the hardest was 'blue lives matter' and Stewart's reminder that many of those sitting and cheering on that convention floor are the same senators and congress critters that have blocked payment for medical services to 'our heroes in blue', and other first responders including the firemen, who ran into the flames and clouds of dust on 9-11.

Trump is giving a post convention talk...

He's completely obsessing over Cruz; right now he's even going back into detail about the Kennedy assassination thing...he also mentioned again that he thinks that The National Inquirer should be a "respected publication".... :loon

You know, every time I think this guy has gone as far to the loony edge as he can, he proves me wrong. It's like the plagiarism thing for his wife's speech, any other campaign would issue a mea culpa, maybe fire a junior speech writer, and move on--but this campaign, and Trump in particular, just can't do that and so everything becomes a ridiculous issue, and his orange face turns a brighter shade so he can spew his crap.

But of course, I hear over and over again, when he becomes president he'll change and sit down and calmly discuss issues and make reasoned policies. He'll negotiate with others as a pro and earn their respect. He'll work with congress, even those who disagree with him. What a crock.

We can't let this guy near the White House--even on a tour.

I'm sure there are many lifelong repubs who participated, but his biggest support seems to come from those new to the party and from the so-called Reagan democrats.

But this guy is the heir to no legitimate republican politician (or human being for that matter) and most are distancing themselves from his crap. I was no Reagan fan, but that guy was a politician (or had good politicians in his team) who could do what was needed to govern (even if I did disagree with a lot of what he did). He's more the heir to Cruz or Palin; hell, he even makes Agnew look classy and Quayle look like a Rhodes Scholar.

The one and only thing that Drumpf has in common with Mr. Reagan is that their first names rhyme with each other...

There the similarities end...

Liberal filmmaker Michael Moore: "Trump Is Going to Win." I am starting to believe he's not far from the truth. Complacency will be the Democrats downfall and Hillary can do little to change it at this point. I also believe it will come down to the Supreme Court to decide our fate.
To hear Moore's ominous prediction start at 9:30:

"My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken (Us)?" Psalm 22:1

Moore is just saying that because he is afraid, as you say, of complacency and wants people a little afraid of what might happen if he was elected. But the fact is that with even average effort on the Democratic side it is a walkover. And there is a significant, if not large, Republican faction, 10% or so maybe less, who are intelligent enough and oriented closely enough with reality to be against him, add in the professional cynics he has personally insulted like Kasich and Cruz and there is just a lot less horsepower in his little election train.

I thought I was in an unusually weird/redneck part of the country in my last home in rural Montana (and I was) when so many people I knew there were excited about Chump's candidacy announcement last summer.

But now I'm back in uber liberal southern New England, working a not-much-above minimum wage job and thus necessarily spending a fair bit of time socializing with the working poor.

So because I feel a bit more tuned in to the working classes at present than perhaps some of the posters here are, let me share this bad news:

I think there is a very, very good chance that Chump will be elected. :? I believe it's such a good chance that if the Hillary campaign doesn't mobilize like crazy and do everything they can to bring Bernie supporters into the fold, we could very likely end up stuck with Chump. :o

Democrats must take absolutely nothing for granted. I'm even going to call them next week to see how I can volunteer in the get out the vote effort here in SE Mass.

Be afraid, and don't stay home on November 8 unless you were planning to vote Chump.

Drumpf's "State of Disunion Address" fact-checked by the Washington Post:

And the poorly educated bought it hook, line, and sinker.

God bless America.

I've been saying that when I say that when someone (not you BSG) calls them idiots (among other things) for even thinking of voting for Trump they (the working poor, and not the not so poor) dig their heels (for Trump) in further.
People on the middle to lower rungs in society are fed up with the status quo and are willing to try something else. Anything else.
Do you think if the feeling in this country was that things were/are getting better that Trump would have even gotten the nomination?
And we are not talking about just the past 8 years, this goes back 12, almost 16 years of decline or at best, stagnation.

Sure, stats say more of the middle-middle class are moving out of it because technically they are now upper middle, but if you take into account real wages and real expenses and real inflation, more money does not equal more spending power, nor more savings power. Hopefully it does mean they are tredding water at least.

Male Escorts Are Making Bank at the Republican National Convention

Male prostitutes claim to be making bank in Cleveland this week during the Republican National Convention. Attendees of the RNC — mostly married — have been high rolling it for sex (surprise, surprise).

“Business has been way better. I’ve seen ten clients so far,” one male escort told the New York Post. “Most of them were first-timers. You could tell they were nervous, but once they became more comfortable, they seemed to be having a good time.”

In just four days, one prostitute earned $1,600, which is six times the amount he usually makes: “I normally make $200 to $300,” he told the New York Post. “But I’ve been seeing lots of guys in hotels downtown [near the Quicken Loans Arena].”

According to the unidentified escorts, their clientele was mainly married white men between 40 and 50. “One of them was from Texas and visiting for the convention,” one said. “He said he was a politician.”

Another escort said his standard rate was $250 an hour but has seen an influx to about $800 per day since the convention. “Usually, I need to go out of town,” he chuckled (counting his dollars I’m sure).

Some of these guys are asking for freaky sh*t. In fact, one requested to get off in the corner while watching his wife in bed with the escort. But when it comes to Republicans on the down low, this isn’t anything out of the ordinary.

“When it comes to anything people aren’t supposed to be doing, they like to do it,” one escort said. “The Republicans have a lot of delegates in the closet, let’s put it that way.”

To test the theory, New York Post contacted female prostitutes to see if they were bringing in the cash too. Guess what — they weren’t. One of the ladies even said that business is “slower than usual.”

Trump promised utopia for all last night, even the LGBT. But if you read the text as he spoke it carefully, The Donald promised to protect them from any harm from FOREIGN ideologies.

So harassment or punishment or any other ill-treatment is fine with the Donald, as long as it comes from home-grown bigots.

Yeah, so were Abraham Lincoln and Warren G. Harding....

They have more in common than Trump and Reagan... 8-)

We can't let this guy near the White House--even on a tour.
Or even standing outside the fence on the sidewalk on Pennsylvania Ave, snapping pictures...

ETA:

I agree with longtime GOP pro Mike Murphy when he said that in his acceptance speech Trump painted such a bleak picture that he "makes America sound like Gotham City"...
