Cruz tries to pry the 'crazy' vote from Trumpy
Re: Cruz tries to pry the 'crazy' vote from Trumpy
they, thru regulation, banned the most common ammo used in the Ar-15, if I remember correctly.
the ar-15 is used extensively for hunting these days. I understand it is used because it is a very good rifle to accurately and dependably use to kill things.
i m more of a 30-30 lever action fan myself, but we don't have much in the way of wide open spaces around here. the farm fields are generally small and interspersed with woodland (kind of like the classic ben franklin model of an agrarian society: 1/3 wooded, 1/3 planted,1/3 fallow), and there are many swampy, wooded areas around here as well. long range shots are more the exception than the rule. and we don t have large predators about either. the occasional wild dog or coyote, plenty of foxes, and i m not totally convinced that the wild cat population is completely extinct in the swamplands either, but i have no real evidence to support that. no more bears tho, they have tried to repopulate the upper shore, but they get kidnapped and sent back to PA or Jersey. and i don t know of anyone who even knew anyone who was alive when wolves were still here. rumor has it that the odd jaguar may have even come this far north up the east coast in colonial times. i don t really doubt it, we still have manatees swim up to the Chesapeake bat occasionally, but we kidnap them and send them back south for some reason. they probably don t want the head ache of an endangered species population to deal with. if i remember correctly capt. john smith reported manatees in the bay during his explorations
anyway, i m not talking about those changes in banking, i m talking about crime fighting changes in which the govt pressured banks to close accounts for 'high risk industries'. marijuana, guns , ammo, and other things were affected.
i don t believe i have ever professed any knowledge of finance policy. if i did it was erroneous because i am in possession of no such knowledge.
i will research the govt pressure on banks to close accounts and deny operating credit to certain legal, but undesirable industries, and post it if you really want me to. or you could just cede that one small point and save me the trouble...
(i really hope bigsky and liberty appreciate the lengths that you and i go to , to present the appearance that we really are us..., or are not you..., or is it, are not me? ) (this charade is really getting complicated)
(if you keep posting serious well thought out arguments , instead of your usual hilarious humor, you are gonna let the cat out of the bag)
(and why is the cat in the bag, joe? is it full of catnip or is something more nefarious going on here?)

Re: Cruz tries to pry the 'crazy' vote from Trumpy
So I guess we agree that the ammo "shortage" is not a government conspiracy.
I'm not too concerned about new bank laws regarding questionable industries and my cat just likes bags. I don't ever let him out of the bag, though. He just walks out of his current bag when he feels like it.
Every cat has its own bag. btw - Jojo's got a brand new bag.
Hmmm.... sounds like a song a black cat should sing...

"say it loud!"
my dog is black, for a while I tried telling her "say it loud!" when she was barking protectively at strangers or door knockers.
I was hoping that whenever I said "say it loud!" she would speak, but she is smart and does not do parlour tricks and explained that I was wrong to ask her to do so. she is a working type dog and she likes her training and actions to have a useful purpose.
she does do jokes, but only her original material
holly and randa thought it was too politically incorrect to teach her that, but I love me some james brown and it was a tribute not an insult

Wes, let me ask you a question...
If you got yourself enough ammo and weapons, do you think you'd be able to stave off the US Government, (with all their tanks, planes, missiles and troop battalions...) if said government was absolutely determined to get you?
(And "why" they'd want to get you is kind of beyond me....but that's a whole nother topic...)

um, I don t have a clue what you mean. I am a loyal American and I can t anticipate a situation where I would ever be on the opposite side of our armed forces.
Re: Cruz tries to pry the 'crazy' vote from Trumpy
well, my cat has his own bag, but I understand that some people have their cat s bag cut off. they even call it "fixing" the cat, which isn t at all accurate. they are actually 'breaking' the cat

Okay...wesw wrote:um, I don t have a clue what you mean. I am a loyal American and I can t anticipate a situation where I would ever be on the opposite side of our armed forces.
Then for what purpose do you want to build this great arsenal?
I can't imagine how I got this impression about you wes...
Oh, yeah, now I remember; it's because of stuff like this:
every spare dime I have is going into guns and ammo.
I am telling everyone to stock up. I am I am
Just sayin'...my most important task, as far as guns go, and in relation to being a good citizen of America, is to acquire a dependable handgun and a dependable rifle and a dependable shotgun, along with plenty of ammo, to put away for my daughter and her family for the future, just in case the gun control nuts assume power.
reloading machine is on the list too.

Re: Cruz tries to pry the 'crazy' vote from Trumpy
um....
I don t see anything in those quotes that suggests that I want to battle my govt.
are you suggesting that I m some kinda timothy mc veigh?
you shouldn t assume such things....
...and people shouldn t assume (italics) power
if all hell ever breaks loose in this country I fully expect to be on the same side as our armed forces
...and I want to keep and bear arms for the same reasons that our founders thought it was important for a free people to do so
I don t believe that our constitution and founding ideals are outdated and wrong for today s world, do you?

OK, let's assume the "gun control nuts assume power". That is, let's suppose that people dedicated to eradicating the second amendment (or perhaps only banning the private commercial sale of all guns) are elected to Congress and the Presidency. And furthermore, that all guns in private hands are to be turned in and those who do not are to be discovered and tried in court (followed by jail). It appears that the vast majority of US citizens will agree to these steps.wesw wrote:my most important task, as far as guns go, and in relation to being a good citizen of America, is to acquire a dependable handgun and a dependable rifle and a dependable shotgun, along with plenty of ammo, to put away for my daughter and her family for the future, just in case the gun control nuts assume power.
Now what are your daughter and her family supposed to do with all those weapons you carefully put away for her/them? And what if you are alive and kicking?
Are you not suggesting that you/they will resist? And who will you resist? The lawful authority of the US gov't, backed by the power of the police and armed forces.
It's not Joe who's wesw; apparently it's some guy named Tim

I wonder if some ammo makers are not making as much .22LR, due to high demand for other calibers.Joe Guy wrote:So, what do you think is the reason for the shortage of .22 ammo, wesw?
The government is buying it all?

Treat Gaza like Carthage.
THE FINAL SOLUTION
Make all private ownership of firearms illegal, and mass incarceration for those who don't comply. And the revolution WILL BE televised. The problem is solved!
Next question, please.

oh I don t worry about such hypotheticals , meade.
the second and first amendments are the current law of the land and I am supporting the law of the land.
I am supporting it vocally , as is my right and as is my duty as a citizen..
I m sorry if that makes you uncomfortable.
I understand that our universities are creating safe zones for people who are scared of liberty and free speech, but I m not sure that old white men are allowed in....

THIS is a hypothetical (clue: the bold bits):wesw wrote:oh I don t worry about such hypotheticals , meade.
... but as usual you refuse to explain what you mean and when called to task, you evade and waffle and wiggle to avoid the obvious. What you're saying is that you will encourage armed resistance to the government when that becomes (in your view) necessary - and yet you also claim you'd never engage the armed forces of the government in a fight.... to acquire a dependable handgun and a dependable rifle and a dependable shotgun, along with plenty of ammo, to put away for my daughter and her family for the future, just in case the gun control nuts assume power.
That makes you a liar, doesn't it?

...by the way, I may be exaggerating, as I don t have any spare dimes and will probably just save up for a 22 pistol for self defense purposes.

um , you are putting words in my mouth, as I never advocated armed resistance of my govt. I advocated armed resistance against tyranny and those who would assume (italics) power.
if all hell ever breaks loose here I certainly expect to be on the side of our armed forces, I m not so sure that Obama will be on our side tho....

Re: Cruz tries to pry the 'crazy' vote from Trumpy
Unfortunately for you, every new President and every new Congressperson "assumes" power when elected and take their place in the government structure. So you are not speaking of the legitimate government then.
If you refer to some kind of insurrection or illegal takeover by "gun control nuts", then you are even further into la la land. You are now postulating that unarmed people (maybe they'll be armed with raw fruit) will tyrannically seize power from the legitimate government - which will presumably stand by and wait for you, your sister and family to come out of the woods fully equipped with .22L to save the day.
What on earth do you mean (if you know)?
