Papa Ken's there again with the drinking company
after serving on the Telex Overseas
and the beer that he's served
has shattered all his nerves
and left a little trembling in his knee

But the booze wafts round his brain
and softens all the pain
and gives him all the confidence he lacked
with a strangled fart he lays upon his back

There's a hole in Papa's face
where all the money goes
and Jesus Christ would not be
seen dead in those clothes
Little bottles have big tops
and Ken he never stops
Street pongs all cling too long
beneath his ale stained nose
hmmm hmmm hmmm hmmm

He died.

"The money" should include all the military money the UK leeches off the US.

Better than needing slapping ....

The UK owes its continued existence to the US.

Taking only half of the UK's annual GDP in perpetuity would be generous.

If one were to judge by the number of threads started by any poster, one would conclude that this board is the only place where Gob gets any attention.

But returning to relevance, the US's "allies" are dependent on the US for their defense. No amount of ad hominem silliness can change that fact.

Yes Andrew, of course Andrew but bear in mind that you either defend your downtown home with your yard as the perimeter and fight the enemy on your own lawn - or you defend the town borders and fight them on someone else's lawn. Or better yet, someone else's country. Apparently it's in the interests of the United States to not have (oh say) China taking over all the other countries nearby, as one example. I can't imagine why.

See Obama would call that an 'investment'. Clinton would call that an 'investment'. That means they think there is some benefit (return) to the USA. Of course to you it may mean pouring money down a rat hole but 'investment' is Democrat-speak for all desirable government spending and all government spending is desirable so there. It's such a good word that the Reps have taken it up as well.

Owes its continued existence... utter bilge

A good investment brings good returns.

The US's military investments have done virtually nothing to prevent a takeover by China: Walmart.

What good is it doing the US to spend its money defending people who live better than Americans do?

Don't worry Andrew, you can always blame the UK for your country's profligacy.

The UK made you do it after all.

Blame is a waste of energy. Collecting debts has nothing to do with blame.

We should have seen it coming after they built The Great Walmart of China.

So you give things away, then try to call them in as debt? What a weird world you live in, no wonder your country is in such financial problems.

Let’s see the contract / bill of sale / item request / for these services which you are trying to receive payment for, who did you sign it with?

You're an arse. :)

The Government Accountability Office was unable to provide an audit opinion on the 2010 financial statements of the U.S. government due to "widespread material internal control weaknesses, significant uncertainties, and other limitations." The GAO cited as the principal obstacle to its provision of an audit opinion "serious financial management problems at the Department of Defense that made its financial statements unauditable."

In Fiscal Year (FY) 2011, seven out of 33 DoD reporting entities received unqualified audit opinions. Under Secretary of Defense Robert F. Hale acknowledged enterprise-wide weaknesses with controls and systems. Further management discussion in the FY 2011 DoD Financial Report states "we are not able to deploy the vast numbers of accountants that would be required to reconcile our books manually". Congress has established a deadline of FY 2017 for the DoD to achieve audit readiness.

In addition to FY 2011, the Department of Defense's financial statements were either unauditable or such that no audit opinion could be expressed for FYs 2010-1998

United States foreign policy affirms its alliance with the United Kingdom as its most important bilateral relationship in the world, evidenced by aligned political affairs between the White House and 10 Downing Street, as well as joint military operations carried out between the two nations.

While both the United States and the United Kingdom maintain close relationships with many other nations around the world, the level of cooperation in military planning, execution of military operations, nuclear weapons technology, and intelligence sharing with each other has been described as "unparalleled" among major powers throughout the 20th and early 21st century.

The United States and Britain share the world's largest foreign direct investment partnership. American investment in the United Kingdom reached $255.4 billion in 2002, while British direct investment in the United States totaled $283.3 billion
