Suits me, I'd move there tomorrow given half a cahnce! That subject turns out to be the suicide of New Zealand. No not suicide in New Zealand but a proposal to cash in the country's independence and become instead, the seventh state of the Australian commonwealth. An opinion poll has suggested that no less than one in four New Zealanders are in favour of this startling departure, and fully a half of the polled want to begin serious debate about it.

Newstralia
Newstralia
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”
Re: Newstralia
Oh Christ no.
You reckon they have a 'chup' on their shoulder about Australia already, it would be unbearable to be in a room with them if they had to join with us.
I can't believe those figures.

Re: Newstralia
Too right.
What with us Ozzie with out slow long drawn out nasally drawl and the bloody Kiwi's with their clipped vowels and penchant for using "u"s instead of "i"s in words were will be be?
(Actually, if we started breeding together we might just resemble English at the end. That or Sud Afrikaan.)

Boer? SHUDDER...
New Zealand is the most beautiful place I have visited, and I've been about a bit.
I fell hopelessly in love with Milford Sound when we were there.
I'd move there tomorrow if we could afford to.

Sometimes it seems as though one has to cross the line just to figger out where it is
Re: Newstralia
I'll remember that for next time.
We did use the carp with DEET in it the last time. Complete waste of time.

If you get the chance do it, you will not regret it, I think it's the most beautiful place on earth.

Cultural views
In New Zealand, the native Māori created a legend wherein "the god Tu-te-raki-whanoa had just finished creating the landscape of Fiordland, it was absolutely stunning...so stunning that it stopped people from working. They just stood around gazing at the beauty instead. The goddess Hinenuitepo became angry at these unproductive people, so she created the sandfly to bite them and get them moving" (. These sand flies were able, according to another Maori legend, to revive the dead hero Ha-tupatu.

Posted out of my inexhaustable ignorance.....
What's the deal between Austrailia and new Zealand?
Is it a friendly rivalry or and intense hatred or somewhere between the two?
Us Yanks look upon our neighbor to the North (Canada) with a mixture of envy and disdain.
Is it the same with you guys?
(OMG those pix of NZ are beyond comprehension - - -reminds me of a dream world)

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

Re: Newstralia
The horrible fuckers were the sand flies, not the Kiwis.
There is a rivalry between teh two countries. A bit like Canada/US on a miniature scale I suppose.
The Kiwis have a huge chip on their shoulders about Oz. I only envy them. (Shhh .... don't let them know.)

Yep, pretty much so, coupled with a serious sporting rivalry in Rugby and Cricket.dales wrote:Posted out of my inexhaustable ignorance.....

Re: Newstralia
Whole place reminds me of middle earth...
Personally, I don’t believe in bros before hoes, or hoes before bros. There needs to be a balance. A homie-hoe-stasis, if you will.
Re: Newstralia
We've promised Hatch that when we next go over to NZ, probably next January, we'll do one of the "Middle Earth " tours on offer there.
