The B.O. machine has run out of steam and will limp along until 2012. Pathetic, indeed for all the dupes that supported this oily charlatan. What a hollow joke not only on them but for all Americans!September 20, 2010, 12:42 pm
Disappointed Supporters Question Obama
By MICHAEL D. SHEAR
It took only a few minutes into CNBC’s town-hall-style meeting for President Obama to get questions that cut to the heart of his political problem.
An African-American woman who described herself as a chief financial officer, a mother and a military veteran said she was disappointed that Mr. Obama had not lived up to her once-lofty expectations.
“I’m exhausted of defending you, defending your administration. … I’m deeply disappointed where we are right now,” she said, adding that when she voted for Mr. Obama, she thought he would change Washington. “I’m waiting, sir. I’m waiting. I don’t feel it yet. … Is this my new reality?”
Moments later, a young man offered a similar theme. He noted that the president had ignited a wave of inspiration for young people and students.
“That inspiration is dying away,” he said. “It feels like the American dream is not attainable for a lot of us. … Is the American dream dead for me?”
Together, the comments reflected the erosion of support among the constituency that swept Mr. Obama into office in 2008. And both were rooted in concerns about the struggling economy and its impact on future generations.
Mr. Obama told both attendees to remain hopeful. He defended his administration’s efforts to increase money for student loans, impose new laws on credit card companies and insurance companies, and stabilize the economy.
“I am confident that the American dream will continue,” Obama told the young man, adding that “there is not a country in the world that would not want to change places with us.”..........YEAH, RIGHT!![]()
He told the woman who said she was disappointed that “there are a whole host of things that we have put in place that do make your life better,” but he quickly cautioned, “I understand your frustration.”
“My goal here is not to convince you that everything is where it needs to be,” Mr. Obama told her. “But what I am saying is that we are moving in the right direction.”

I don't think Americans were duped, I think they are simply impatient, frustrated, and have a very very short attention span.
However, since much of what I predicted would happen and why I didn't support Obama for the Democratic nomination is coming true, I can only beat my head against the wall in agony and frustration when I read things like this:
Coulda, shoulda, sigh . . . .

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_ ... rich_palinVoters Say Hillary More Qualified To Be President Than Obama, Romney, Gingrich, Palin
U.S. voters think Hillary Clinton is more qualified to be president than Barack Obama, but most believe that both Democrats are more fit for the White House than three top Republicans interested in the job.
Coulda, shoulda, sigh . . . .

Maybe not duped Guin, in that he never intended to accomplish what he said, but I don't agree with impatient or having a short attention span. From what I can see, Obama came in intending to pursue some items on his agenda, but he backed off when he met significant opposition. He really screwed up in not campaigning for healthcare reform, leaving us with an unworkable plan that I still fear will set that cause back for years, if not decades, when it crashes and burns. Would hillary have been any better? I doubt it, but can see where frustrated dems might say so (although I think she is doing a very credible job as Secretary of State); personally I think her biggest drawback was her inability or refusal to muzzle Bill (and seeing him patting himself on the back on Letterman last night just brought it all back) (and lest you think this comment is gneder, one of the biggest drawbacks Al Gor had was Tipper and her idiotic pronouncements).
Face it, like Bill, Obama has run from the agenda and the people who elected him, prefrring to avoid confrontation; if he would have just stood up and gone to the people with his plans early on, asking for their support, things might have been different. But he dsidestepped the issues, dumping them on the dems in Congress and letting republicans set the terms for the debate. I hoped for a lot more, but pretty much got what I expected.

Oh I agree with you 100% on the healthcare piece, BigRR, and I've posted on his lack of leadership over the legislation and how destructive that was. But I do think there is also impatience involved -- especially from people who are newly involved in politics, who came out in droves for Obama.
