Jeb Wins a Critical Endorsement

Post by Lord Jim »

Barbara Bush: ‘I changed my mind’

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. -- Two years ago, former first lady Barbara Bush said there had been "enough Bushes" in the White House.

On Friday night here, the family matriarch declared -- lest there be any doubt -- that she had changed her mind.

At a gala dinner in Bonita Springs, Jeb Bush welcome guests to the 15th annual Celebration of Reading, a literacy charity event sponsored by the Barbara Bush Foundation. Bush, who is preparing for a 2016 presidential run, recalled from the stage his mother's earlier remarks that their dynastic family was over-represented in the White House.

At that, Barbara Bush popped up on two jumbo screens in the ballroom via Skype.

"Jeb!" she interrupted him. "Jeb, it’s Mom. Listen, what do you mean, ‘too many Bushes’?... I changed my mind!”

The dinner attendees burst into applause.

The nation’s problems were so big, Barbara Bush added, “it doesn’t matter what your last name is.”

“Hey, Mom,” Jeb Bush replied, “can I get that in writing?... Mother, I love you. You’re the greatest mother in the world."

Barbara Bush then said, "Look who I've got with me tonight," and she moved her computer camera across the room to her husband, former president George H.W. Bush, who sat in a chair smiling.

The elder Bushes remained connected on Skype for the remainder of the dinner program.

With mom's approval how can John Ellis not run? Feel the love. "Bushwhacked" again!

I was hoping for a Romney / Rubio or Bachmann ticket. That would have been real fun.

Providing the Dems don't pull Hillary from the discount bin, 2016 is theirs to lose.

And that, folks...THAT is what the Bushes meant when they said "No Child Left Behind"! ;)

Barbara Bush, the keen-eyed compassionate moralist who looked at the thousands of Katrina refugees who had been housed in the Astrodome and laughed and said [they were] "underprivileged anyway, so this is working very well for them. "

That TV interview was unfortunate, wasn't it? I thought her line expressing extreme concern that all those people were going to stay in Texas was even more awkward.

I don't know that she was laughing at the people. Photos from the visit show the Bush/Clinton foursome laughing and smiling quite often, particularly with children who were laughing and smiling also. Photos also show them (all four) looking very serious.

I expect the dear lady was inartfully expressing that the relief effort was working (and of course they were there to kick-start the Bush/Clinton Katrina Relief Fund) and the folks in the Astrodome were satisfied with the help they were now receiving. She probably had in mind that the devastated areas would need people to return and rebuild, rather than move elsewhere.

One can be mean-spirited or charitable in trying to understand what people had in their minds when they say silly things.

Taken in the context of her other utterances I got it exactly right. She was not expressing concern that they were staying in Texas for their sakes she was expressing concern that Texas would have to take them. (because her idiot child screwed up so badly)

Barbara Bush is a mean selfish cunt and she has produced selfish mean children. All of them are liars and crooks. As history has shown.

Barbara Bush is a mean selfish cunt
...She visited literacy programs, schools and libraries to call attention to the importance of parents reading and teaching their kids to read. In 1989, as first lady, she got her chance to push harder.

She formed the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy to fund programs that teach parents in low-income families to read and pass on a love of reading to their children.

"If everyone could read and write, all the problems I worried about could be solved," Bush, 89, told USA TODAY in a phone call from her home in Houston. "If you can't read, you can't do anything."

As the foundation celebrates its silver anniversary Thursday, Bush says the goal of the foundation has been consistent: to help mothers realize their strength as their child's first teacher.

"There is nothing like sitting with your arms around your child and reading to them," she says.

Liza McFadden, the foundation's chief executive officer, says a primary indicator of whether a child will graduate from high school is whether the child's mother graduated.

So the foundation's programs teach young mothers and fathers to read and write and help them get their GEDs while their children are getting early childhood education.

McFadden says parents on average increase their reading and writing grade level by almost two grades in a year. The average participant reads at a fifth grade level when she starts.

Today, the organization funds 1,500 literacy programs in all 50 states with grants from $25,000 to $125,000.

I know... she's so awful. Helping children read and thinking mothers should be empowered... that is just sooooo selfish.

This type of negativity can kill her endorsement deal with PepsiCo.
