Old hands will remember that in an earlier incarnation I fomented a similar sentiment regarding my bestest pal and golf buddy, George W. Bush...and my impression was that before the previous topic at the previous place turned into a referendum on my general foreign undesirability, a lively discussion was had for a time.
Frankly, I doubt impeachment will come to pass - Obama being somewhat milquetoast for public consumption in his personal affairs and much more of a dedicated risk-aversive centrist than Clinton...but I'm certain (especially if Obama decides to run as incumbent in '12) that it will be forced up for a vote or two after some 'scandal' has been lovingly manufactured and Republicans start waving their subpoenas around in public, abetted capably by the 'liberal media' driving their negative perceptions of the aforesaid manufactured debacle into the public consciousnesses with all due chops-licking, ratings-grabbing prudence.
What say you, America?

Nothing like a manufactured good scandal to wet our appetites.

Indeed, oldr_n_wsr...IMO, part of the rationale for yesterday's midterm results was that America is bored with the staid, drab predictability of Democratic majority appeasement, er, rule, and craves the high-rolling drama of Republicans on the warpath yet again to enliven their existences.

Welcome darkblack I know we have crossed paths before, but due to CRS I don't remember where/when.
Yeah, high drama, that's what we need.
In two years when nothing gets done, it will be the dems turn to come back.
Now that I think of it, maybe that is Obama's strategy, give up a few (dozen) seats this time, same old, same old for two years, people fed up yet again, get rid of who's in in the house (maybe some senators to boot) but the prez rides the dems retaking of the house to a second term.
BRILLIANT!

Well as long as he keeps his cock out of anyone other than the first lady, and sticks to cigarettes rather than cigars, he's so fucking Teflon coated he should survive.
I want Palin to be the next pres, it would be like 24/7 Monty Python...

Frankly, I wish such a wholesomely byzantine strategy would come to pass...as opposed to the seeming certainty that as the American economy will not rebound strongly in two years (usually a surefire election winner), and determined political obstructionists will merely reinforce that situation as per their stated objective, the cumulative situation is breeding conditions for a fiscal death spiral.
The sort of dedicated short- and long-range planning needed to address these issues in a timely and maximally inclusive fashion isn't there - a legion of fiddlers fiddling while the empire burns. Whatever their plans, I don't think Team Obama has two years to run off the clock as they are no longer in the position of being able to claim an inherited mess from the previous executive branch, and even less so in '12.
Sad, really...It's the sort of wasted potential cloaked in self-satisfied ignorance that was shown in full flower within the Bush decade.

The ubiquitous 'they' will just make shit up and throw it endlessly on FOX and their ilk until it sticks in the medulla of the 'average American voter', a species for whom safety rails and rubber spoons were designed and manufactured in a far-off land of low wages and high productivity.

If that thought doesn't give you a frisson nothing will.

The only thing done by the Administration that I see worthy of investigation at the moment, would be the Justice Department decision to drop the prosecution of the New Black Panther Party members for voter intimidation....
And I don't see how that could in any way lead to Impeachment....
that it will be forced up for a vote or two after some 'scandal' has been lovingly manufactured and Republicans
You mean like the way the dastardly Republicans forced Bill Clinton to commit perjury, and suborn perjury?

Just curious...
Exactly what charges against WJC (our first Black President) were "made up"? The obstruction of justice? Lying under oath? which ones? The only question was whether his criminal activities warranted impeachment. Nothing was "made up."
The Republicans would have to go a long way to outdo what was done to Clarence Thomas during his confirmation hearings. A USSC nomination torpedoed (unsuccessfully, as it turns out) over uncorroborated ALLEGATIONS of TASTELESS CONVERSATION!!!!!
Horrors!
You fxcking hypocrites.

Is it the intellectuality of Obama which has led to the situation today, or are we seeing, as I have been suspecting for some years, the inefficiency of the US's political system finally causing the quagmire of stalemate and lack of action?

Goodness me, is that what they did? Those brutes...and after all that cute little Dickie Nixon did for his country, too.

Leading the witness, m'lud.
Obama an intellectual? Hmmm - Jury's out on that, IMO. Applying that pejorative to our right-wing friends' favorite peanut farmer might have a stronger basis in fact, and may explain some of the inordinate rage they feel toward him, the high-falutin' pointy-head.
A bigger issue at the moment is the vast number of specialist operators (read: lobbyists) of either 'ideology' on the ground in D.C. who are highly familiar with methods to game the overall system to achieve their desired result, whether that be a fast track or a push onto the tracks. Cheney was representative of such folks, and he played the (as you say) inefficient system like a tuned Stradivari...Stating that the VP office was a 'Fourth branch of the government' (with no clear responsibility to Congress or the Senate) was a most clever ruse to run some time off the clock during the Libby investigation, for example - daring investigators to prove incontrovertibly that it isn't, and by the somewhat glacial time that they do some other dodge would be firmly in play to shore up the tottering edifice of lies.

A black man who runs for president in the United States and is called 'risk averse'?
