America's absurd gun control policies are a joke

Post by BoSoxGal »

For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

Can't give a royal steaming pile about what goes on in Austrailia and how an Austrailian comedian feels about our gun control policies. Additionally the anti- gunners in this country are going to force my hand into voting further to the right than I had ever hopped I would have to. Well done lefties as you push centrists to the right.

?????

Please explain what you mean. What specifically do you object to, and why would it cause you to vote further to the right? Why do you think that is preferable to voting "centrist"? Why do you even perceive gun control as a left/right issue?

...and this total may yet double during Obama's remaining time in office!

I made it to about three minutes in, (further than I expected to, when I clicked on the video) to the bit where the smarmy jackass started taking suicide statistics out of context to try and make his "point"....

In deed this is the case and he has expressed his frustration over it. It is not, however, due to a lack of desire on his part.

Where do you get that idea from? (Regulation does not equal seizure)
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

Regulation keeps certain guns out of the citizen's hands. Seizing guns does the same thing. They are different by definition but equal in the final result.

And I have no doubt that the final desire is to strip the citizenry of all guns.

A nice illustration of a delusion.

Some people will believe anything if you repeat it often enough.

Things that we regulate successfully to ensure public safety:

Motor vehicles. Registration of ownership and license drivers.
Explosives. Possession and manufacture are licensed.
Pesticides. Manufacture and use are controlled, often restricted so only licensed professionals can apply outside of agriculture.
Chemicals. Manufacturer has "cradle to grave" strict liability for all harms including if chemical s stolen.
Herbicides. Manufacture and use controlled.
Schedule drugs. Manufacture and possession licensed.

Things we don't regulate because of an unfounded delusion.

It scares me to think that you likely have a license to drive.

If you had a cogent comment I guess you would have made it.

Are not there laws already on the books that supposedly keep the mentally unstable from purchasing guns?

I'll have to go try and purchase a rifle and see if they "find" my suicide attempt and stint in the psych ward.

All I can say it that as lefty as I am, and as pro-gun control as I am (and I'm pretty left on both), I've never ever heard anyone on the left say the citizenry should be stripped of all guns. Never. Ever.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nati ... /30764255/
Retired U.S. Army Gen. Russel Honore, Louisiana's most well-known 21st century military hero, said America is mired in a state of denial about its gun culture and that's harming the country.

"As a country we're in a state of denial because we've confused the right to bear arms with the right to carry arms all the time anywhere or anyplace you want," Honore told Gannett Louisiana on Monday. "We have to have a different kind of conversation in America and be prepared to speak about the politically unspeakable."

Honore said the string of recent mass gun murders — culminating with the tragic movie theater shooting in Lafayette Thursday in which two victims died — should provide a wake up call.
Although we've already decided that the gun culture is superior to and more important than killing unarmed babies in an elementary school. So god knows what is going to be enough to wake this country up.

Nothing anywhere near as drastic is needed. All rights are subject to reasonable restrictions, why should the second amendment rights be any different?

I m not going down this road again right now, my head hurts.....

this latest guy was already a confirmed nut case, and was still sold a weapon. no one is arguing that nut jobs should be able to legally bear arms.

sueu called for the repeal of the second amend., and meade seems halfway there.

if everyone was like you , RR, we would not need to protect ourselves. unfortunately many people like power and will crush all who oppose them
