Donald Trump banned from major event over menstruation jibe at Megyn Kelly
Donald Trump has been officially banned from one of the biggest gatherings of conservative activists after implying he received hostile questioning during the first Republican presidential debate because the television moderator was menstruating.
Trump was uninvited from the RedState Gathering late on Friday after saying in a CNN interview that Fox News’s Megyn Kelly “had blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever”, while questioning him during Thursday night’s debate.
The real estate mogul had been scheduled to appear at a special tailgate at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta at the close of RedState Gathering on Saturday night.
Erick Erickson, the organizer of the event and a major conservative activist tweeted late on Friday night, “I have rescinded my invitation to Mr. Trump. While I have tried to give him great latitude, his remark about Megyn Kelly was a bridge too far.”
In a follow-up blog post, Erickson amplified why he was disinviting Trump: “there are even lines blunt talkers and unprofessional politicians should not cross,” he wrote. “Decency is one of those lines.”
The falling-out marked the first major break with Trump from a key figure in the mainstream conservative movement. Republican strategist Matt Mackowiak told the Guardian: “This is the first time that a significant figure in the conservative movement has stood up to Trump and it’s cost him anything.
“I expect Trump to lash out at Erick but Erick wins when he fights and has a huge microphone and speaks to a lot of conservatives across the country.” Mackowiak added it also represents a missed opportunity for Trump to speak to conservative activists and reporters who had gathered for the event.
this is the moment that finally sunk the good ship Trump

I sincerely hope you're right wes, I keep waiting for the comment that will issue forth from Trumpty that will finally start to bring his poll numbers down...(I thought the McCain comment would at least put a dent)
But thus far he has defied the laws of political gravity; I'll wait till I see polling that was done after this latest boorishness before I'll start uncorking the champagne....

she is a very skilled interviewer. she is definitely a republican, but is an honest reporter and is very hard on republicans too. she doesn t pull punches or let bullcrap go unchallenged.

The Tumpians don't give a crap about Megyn Kelly and her hurt feelings. As they see it, she is part of the evil media even if she is part of Fox news.
The Repub party may ban him fom speaking here and there and that will only enhance him in hte views of the Trumpians.

If you want to really get depressed, take a look at The Donald's twitter feed. There are way to many insane humanoids who agree with him, who think Megan was too hard on him, who think women are unimportant vessels, etc, ad nauseum.
I'm not laughing any more -- the man is a huge threat to this country and he has somehow tapped right in to the anger and fear of the uneducated and uncaring racists, sexists, and others (and sue me if anyone says that's a snotty elitist comment, its meant to be a statement of my observations about his supporters).
I was buying cigars for my Swede last night and the shopkeeper and her son were talking about Ferguson and Trump. Their comments just about made me vomit (keep on shooting at them until the bullets run out, Trump would mow them down and show the who's boss, etc), and I should have walked out without making a purchase. I spoke up, but that wasn't enough (and PS - she asked me for ID, which has never happened before at this store or anywhere else I can recall). I'm pissed at myself that I didn't just leave, but know I won't go back.

You said he couldn't win so give me your take on how he is a threat. Do you see him as the threat or this group of people who follow him as a threat? Do you think they physically pose a threat or in some other intangible manner?

Glad you said "others". I think there are plenty of smart, intelligent people who are prety much "a-political" who have seen their buying power and quality of life decline in the last 8-16 years who are putting hte blame on the career politicians. (and IMO the blame is well deserved) Trump has tapped into them also. In Trump, they see someone who is rocking the boat that they were kicked out (or fell out) of years ago.

So oldr, are you suggesting it's any port in a storm, and these people don't care what he says as long as he shouts it? I just can't comprehend people that ridiculous; it's far easier for me to imagine there are those who think Trump is right than that sort of person. But you may well be right, there are all kinds of people in the world.

I think Oldr hit right on the large part of those who say they like Trump, he's a protest "vote" (each popular candidate has his or her share of ignorant and offensive supporters, they just don't get highlighted regularly in the news because they really aren't newsworthy). When people actually get around to voting, either Trump will have defied the odds and his personality and become a decent politician, or most of his support will evaporate as people get real about who they want as president.

Not any port in a storm. And some of it is what he's saying. How long has the illegal immigration subject been around and how long have the pol's done nothing about it. It's a big deal to have someone come along and shout they will finally build a fence that has been promised for what? 15+ years. An how prophetic is it that Trump talks about murdering (and raping and drug dealing) illegal immigrants and one kills a young lady in a sanctuary city.
Many many people are fed up with the pandering do nothing politicians. The dems go for (and get) the black vote meanwhile black enemployment has skyrocketed in the last 8 years. Inner cities are a disaster and getting worse yet all that has happened under a black president is more racial divide and more black being imprisoned than ever. And I am not blaming Obama but wasn't he going to unite us all?
It is disgust with the system and those in it that is feeding the Trumpians.
I would never vote for Trump but I have to admit, I like what he brings to the circus. If only for what he is making the others possibly listen to the disenfranchised. Who, IMO are a really big group of voters.

I quoted (and posted the article I think) Nate Silver - who I respect and who is often correct - who wrote that statistically Trump can't win. I fervently hope that's true, but I am disturbed by the reaction to him and the ugliness he is perpetuating.
I understand people are disaffected and that neither party has done a good job bringing Americans back together - and. I have opinions about how and why that has happened. But fundamentally, Trump isn't going to do one little thing to repair that division, he is ultimately more divisive than the parties, and he is clearly about himself and no greater mission or ideal, nor is he leader or a statesman. He is a big old mysoginistic bully.
Go look for the articles about his divorce from Ivana and how he treated his wife. It's horrific. And he simply bought his way out of it. That is not a prescription for how to run this county.
ETA : I did post "can't and won't happen" citing Silver. I don't believe he could ever get elected but no one has ever gone broke underestimating the American people. And if I'm wrong then I will truly be depressed for all of us.

I want the Trump candidacy to go on forever. The longer he runs as a Republican, the more damage he does to the party. When he finally goes third-party, it will cripple the GOP, perhaps permanently.

I wonder how many women are for him. I think we can safely call them Strumpets as they are committing adultery to their own gender. He will lead them to Gilead.
