In a reversal of a recent slump, Hillary Clinton rose among Democratic voters in a new CNN/ORC national poll out Monday morning, widening the gap between herself and Bernie Sanders. And if Vice President Joe Biden decides against running for the presidency, her advantage could rise even further.

Clinton picked up 42 percent, with Sanders grabbing 24 percent and Biden, who has not made a decision about running, with 22 percent. Other candidates polled within the margin of error. But if Biden elects not to run, Clinton's lead over Sanders jumps to 57 percent to 28 percent, up from 48 percent to 32 percent in the previous CNN poll.

I am so tired of polls. :beat
This ones ahead, wait, now this ones ahead.
This one leads in women most likely to vote if they had their car washed today. This ones in the lead with people who live in a brown house without central AC.

I get the impression that Bernie wants to run for president more than he wants to be president. Running for president allows him to get a larger audience for his policy ideas than he cold hope to any other way. Which is part of the reason that he speaks very freely on issues w/o carefully calibrating each stance based on its electoral effect.

Hilary can do well by waiting to see how each of his issues is received and then stealing the most successful of them.

I welcome Bernie and his ideas. I love that he's pushing HRC towards the left, and requiring that she address issues I wanted addressed in the first place.

I agree, but do wish she'd address those issues even without the presence of Bernie.

And I wish Bill and Hillary could be dedicated public servants devoted to high ideals like Jimmy Carter and Harry Truman rather than selfish carpetbaggers but with better policy ideas than the Republicans, but I'll take what I can get.

She'll do.

Bloomberg Poll: Joe Biden Now Top Presidential Choice for 1 in 4 Democrats

One quarter of Americans who are registered Democrats or lean that way say Vice President Joe Biden is now their top choice for president. The findings of a national Bloomberg Politics poll released Wednesday represent a notable achievement for an as-yet undeclared candidate, suggest concerns about Hillary Clinton's candidacy, and raise the prospect of a competitive three-way race for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Clinton, once the prohibitive front-runner, is now the top choice of 33 percent of registered Democrats and those who lean Democrat, the poll shows. Biden places second with 25 percent and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders is at 24 percent. The other three Democratic candidates combined are the top choice for less than 4 percent of that base.

As I've been saying for months now, it's not a question of 'if' but 'when.' Any day now. Hillary is so concerned about Joe becoming yet another spoiler that she now has "her people" combing through the Anita Hill hearing files collecting ammunition to highlight Biden's lack of support for Hill's sexual harassment charges against Justice Thomas.

Clinton's plan is to spin Biden as a female hating hypocrite for his authorizing his Violence Against Women Act yet allowing Hill to crash-and-burn at the hearings. Twenty-five years later I am that 1 in 4 Democrats that has forgiven him for this transgression -- along with that plagiarism/attribution flap back in '88.

BIDEN/Warren...2016

(End of thread... next one, please.)

Well, if we want to point fingers, Hillary and Biden both voted for the Iraq invasion in 2002, and I've never forgiven either for that. Sure, Hillary later called it a mistake, but it was a very costly one.

Unfortunately. no one is perfect, and generally you have to select from what is offered or walk away entirely (and I'm not ready to that yet in this campaign, but I have voted third party twice and could do so again).

you couldn t support Kasich, RR?

Not sure; I doubt I could "support" him, and while it seems unlikely that I would vote for him, I'd want to look at his positions in more detail. But I do have some misgivings with his positions on abortion, healthcare, and the second amendment based on what I have read thus far.

man, look at his record, he seems genuine in his commitment to the least of us and our health, listen to his home state constituents, of all races.

has there ever been a candidate of either party with whom you fully agreed on all issues?

there is also the possibility of national unity, which is surely worth a bit of compromise, no?

at least consider voting in the GOP primary, that way you can hedge your bets and limit your losses if the GOP wins, which seems likely.

trump is no joke, and he appeals to many democrats and independents, even if they won t say it aloud.....

if it comes down to trump and Hillary.......

vote Kasich, please?

pretty please?

you do not like them, so you say....

...try them try them, and you may.... :)

If it "comes down to Trump or Hillary"...

How would he, (or anyone else for that matter) be able to vote for Kasich?

Jim--I was thinking the same thing; Kasich would not be my choice for a third party candidate.

wes--Trump and Hillary? No contest, I would vote for Hillary to prevent even the possibility of Trump winning. As for Kasich, I see your point, which is why I said I have to look at his positions. As for the primary, I wouldn't rule out voting in the republican one; I've crossed party lines before and could easily do so again. But it's too early to even think of that.

Wonder how much of the down then up, rinse/repeat, is the media creating angles/stories to sell clicks and looks while waiting for the real action to start next year; and how much is objectively substantive?
