Spoken from your own experiences, no doubt?

Somewhat. My younger brother (deceased) had schizophrenia and I worked with college students for 10 years, a population right in the middle of the age range when mental illness develops. So I saw a lot of people go through that process. Some much more successful than others.

It thought it was funny. Caddyshack funny on the rubato scale of humor.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

The truly cruel and insidious thing about mental illness, (schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder, etc) is the way the disease itself tells those suffering from it that they are "well" when they are not...

If you have a broken leg, your leg doesn't tell you that you can now start walking around on it because you "feel" a little better...(In fact if you try to do that, your leg will "tell" you the exact opposite...)

If you have a diabetic condition, or high blood pressure, or high cholesterol, or any other physical condition, your mind doesn't tell you "Okay now you're cured. You can stop taking your medicine"...

But mental illness works that way...

And your comment was not a cheap shot?

You're an asshole. And dirt-stupid to boot.

Wes made a series of posts which make so logical sense at all. I was merely pointing this out using satire.

If Wes really does suffer from a diagnosed mental illness then it would be inappropriate and I would apologize. Otherwise, it was perfectly appropriate.

You don't know the first thing about it. Stop before you make a bigger ass of yourself. Most people with serious mental illness know that something is wrong but don't understand what it is.

I happen to know a lot about it rube...

And the fact that you would respond that way makes me think that perhaps you don't, and you may have made that whole story up...

Or once again you're responding in your usual insecure defensive way when the truth hits too close to the mark...

The only thing you know about it is that your wife was a methamphetamine abuser who might have thought she was 'well' when she was not. You have no other knowledge of the subject.

But continue to blither on to your hearts content.

Tell me about it.

For the past 12 years, and despite rubato's claim I am a "ward screw", I've worked as part of a team treating young people with psychosis and schizophrenia, (first episode/prodromal,) with the aim of keeping them safe, well, socially functioning, and out of hospital.

Preconceptions of the conditions, and prejudice against the mentally ill, are the biggest hurdles to the team's success. (Along with making sure the buggers stay medicated!)

rube, do you ever get tired of proving my point?

You have absolutely no idea how many people I've known with mental disorders, or how close I've been to them...

But you have a pathological fear of having other people feel "sorry" for you... (particularly me, apparently...)

So the moment that I might be extending you some empathy, you feel the need to lash out as a right asshole...

You might want to look into why you have this need...

Alcoholism does it also.
