DES MOINES, Iowa (The Borowitz Report)—An endorsement from former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is expected to widen Donald J. Trump’s already impressive lead among so-called “idiot voters,” an aide to the billionaire said on Tuesday.
While Trump was previously thought to have a lock on the idiot vote heading into the Iowa caucuses, a recent surge by Senator Ted Cruz, of Texas, has put the idiots back in play.
Cruz has worked tirelessly in recent weeks to tailor his message to undecided idiots, even revamping his stump speech to rid it of two-syllable words.
“That’s why Palin supporting Trump and not Cruz is such a win for us,” the Trump aide said. “She’s been out of politics for awhile, but she still has idiot cred.”
The aide said that no one should be surprised by the bond between Palin and Trump. “They’re both reality-show hosts,” he said. “And by lowering the bar in 2008, Palin singlehandedly made Trump’s candidacy possible.”
But even as the Trump campaign staffers celebrate the Palin endorsement, they recognize that they still have their work cut out for them to secure victory in Iowa. “Getting the idiots to support Trump is only half the battle,” the aide said. “Now we have to make sure that they make it to the caucuses without getting lost on the way.”

Yeah, that's one way to get people to not support someone, call them idiots.

That may be our secret weapon...the aide said. “Now we have to make sure that they make it to the caucuses without getting lost on the way.”

GAH!
Re: trump gets an important endorsement
Idiots are going to support who they are going to support regardless of what they are called, because they are impervious to anything that doesn't reinforce the thoughts emanating from their own idiocy.

I REALLY kinda doubt whether very many of the idiots ever read The New Yorker...oldr_n_wsr wrote:Yeah, that's one way to get people to not support someone, call them idiots.
...or give a flying fuck about what any New Yorker writer thinks of them.
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right. The only difference is, they're wrong.

I watched the speech last night, CNN showed it live.
when palin came out, I had to explain to my daughter who she was, I was sure to include that she was an idiot.
when mc cain chose her I lost faith in him, and I really didn t like that she quit as gov of Alaska.
but we listened....
she started out with nervous gibberish, glancing at her notes, and we all went about our various chores then it kinda got different and we all started listening.
she was talking about the establishment, no more notes and you could hear a pin drop in the hall. it was electric.
then she went back to form and then she got all good again....
I still don t care for her, but I have to reassess my idiot judgment.

HOLD IT RIGHT THERE, PILGRIM...
By the time wes posted this, Ethan Wayne (John Wayne's son and the president of John Wayne Enterprises) had already gone on record as saying that Aissa Wayne had overstepped her authority in making such a statement or endorsement.wesw wrote:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldne ... ement.html"John Wayne Enterprises and John Wayne Cancer Foundation wish to state that Aissa Wayne acted independently of both organizations and the Wayne family in her endorsement of Donald Trump," Enterprises president Ethan Wayne, a son of the actor, said in a curt statement.
"No one can speak on behalf of John Wayne and neither the family nor the foundation endorses candidates in his name."
But wes didn't bother telling us that, did he?
Not that it mattered to Trumpty-Dumpty. After he completed his appearance at Wayne's birthplace and museum in Winterset, IA, he then went to one of the local parks where he posed for photos alongside one of the covered "Bridges of Madison County", and claimed that if Francesca Johnson and Robert Kincaid were there they would be supporting him as well.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?
Re: trump gets an important endorsement
so..., are you saying that that wasn t john waynes daughter?
that I sent an evil imposter to portray his daughter?
I just put up the clip , dude.
I didn t tell you anything about the wayne family.
no deception involved..., on my part anyway.
eta- and apparently at least one of the wayne family does endorse candidates, no matter what the wayne boy says, I saw it with my own eyes. as did you.

(he'd also be 107 years old and probably more senile than Reagan ever was)"...if John Wayne were around he'd be standing right here instead of me."
Fine. You don't like it when people try to put words into your mouth; she should not be trying to imply a political position or put words in the mouth of someone else either — especially someone as long-dead as John Wayne who can no longer speak on his own behalf.
Let HER endorse the candidate in her own name from some place other than in front of a mannequin of "The Duke" instead of attempting to not-so-subtly pull her late father into the mix.
ETA: If the actor's given name was Marion Morrison and John Wayne was a stage name, then why are his children's last names Wayne and not Morrison?

Re: trump gets an important endorsement
You would thin these politicians would point to their record and accomplishments rather than who and how many other people "like" them.

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts
