TRUMPTY'S SECRET WEAPON II

Post by RayThom »

Just when I thought Rush Limbaugh was becoming a nonentity in the political arena he comes rushing back pandering to Trump by pandering to Palin.

All I know is there's going to be a great business opportunity in the pitchforks, torches and tumbrels concession at the Republican convention this summer.

I'm sure you're loving this... 8-)

(If I were a Democrat, I'd be laughing my butt off... 8-) )

If Trump wins the GOP nomination, it will create the greatest schism within the GOP since 1912...

We had divisions in '76 and '64, but nothing compared with what we will see in this cycle if Trump is nominated...

Not even close. The Democratic Party is not about to split apart into two or even three pieces.

Your positions are so internally inconsistent: HRC will drop out. A Bernie win in NH will fracture the Dems.

Just shows how you're completely wrong on both. As usual, you don't have a single fact that supports your position. All you're doing is expressing your own wishes.

if you say so.

they already look fractured to me.

I am fairly sure that the dems will unite behind sanders if he wins, unless Bloomberg gets in, but I don t believe that the sanders supporters will unite behind Hillary.

TRUMPTY'S SECRET WEAPON II

Post by RayThom »

After the 2016 election, and regardless who wins the prize, the focal point of time in politics will be forever referred to as BT and AT.

Remember the old carrot-and-stick saying we heard so often as children, "Anyone can grow up to be president, (... no matter what you look like, where you come from, where your true loyalties lie, or what animal the gods of your ancestors worshiped... ") The Donald is living proof that this is true.

Kids, you no longer need to know jack about what you aspire to become as long as you say what your peers expect you to say. From here on out there will be a Trump-like, Mr. fix-it, in every general election. Guaranteed.

And the whole world is watching... and laughing.

plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose

"Sir John Pakington taunted him in this way, recalling the passage in the "Representative Government" where he [Mill] said the Conservatives were the stupidest party in the state. Mill replied:

" I never meant to say that the Conservatives are generally stupid. I meant to say that stupid people are generally Conservative. I believe that is so obviously and universally admitted a principle that I hardly think any gentleman will deny it. Suppose any party, in addition to whatever share it may possess of the ability of the community, has nearly the whole of its stupidity, that party must, by the law of its constitution, be the stupidest party; and I do not see why honorable gentlemen should see that position as at all offensive to them, for it ensures their being always an extremely powerful party.... There is so much dense, solid force in sheer stupidity, that any body of able men with that force pressing behind them may ensure victory in many a struggle, and many a victory the Conservative party has gained through that power."

This repartee was generally considered excellent Parliamentary fun. Indeed, we are told, "the House fairly burst into a roar of laughter, men on all sides thoroughly appreciating the humour of the thing". Gladstone was still talking about it a month later. He said it was the most pungent and clever thing that Mill had ever said."

I wonder how many Republicans are stupid enough to believe that the Nazis were Christians, or that there was no genocide before Christianity, or that the Poles weren't victims of the Nazis, or that the Japanese wanted to declare war before they attacked Pearl Harbor, or that Rousseau was a reactionary, or that the British have had a 4th rate navy since the American Revolution, etc, etc ad nauseating...

Lord knows we've got our share of stupid people, (though I should also point out as I posted earlier that the latest polling data shows that 20% of Democrats...one in five... would vote for Trump over Hillary... ) but I doubt we have many stupid enough to believe those kinds of brain dead pig-ignorant things...

Rube is waging a relentless and never-ending one-man battle to even the scale of stupidity between the parties all by himself... :ok

I would venture a guess that those 20% "Democrats" aren't actual party members. Much like most "Republican" Trump supporters. Most of his support comes from the couch potato crowd that saw him on "The Apprentice", and have absolutely no clue about how poor a businessman he really is when he does the actual "leading". Sound bites and rhetoric. He's very good at leading the gullible, I'll give him that.

Plus he lacks of any sort of political credentials, though I suspect that his lack of political credentials draws him some support. This would usually be a good thing in my mind, but he is as repulsive an individual I've ever seen in the American political system. I thought he was a repulsive person 20 years ago long before political aspirations were made public.

Too right, Mr. 300ZX... he was repulsively rude and a jerk on the Apprentice - 5 minutes of that was all I could stand before good taste took over and my stomach emptied itself leading to a bad taste. His audience is repulsively rude and boorish; evidently there are a lot of them but not enough to elect him dog-catcher in Buttfart, OK

Nearly all Nazis started out as Christians. The percentage of German Christians who joined the party is many orders of magnitude higher than the percentage of Muslims who become terrorists. There appears to have been something about Nazism which was uniquely attractive to Christians in Germany.

http://www.ushmm.org/wlc/en/article.php ... d=10005206
The German Churches and the Nazi State

The population of Germany in 1933 was around 60 million. Almost all Germans were Christian, belonging either to the Roman Catholic (ca. 20 million members) or the Protestant (ca. 40 million members) churches. The Jewish community in Germany in 1933 was less than 1% of the total population of the country.

How did Christians and their churches in Germany respond to the Nazi regime and its laws, particularly to the persecution of the Jews? The racialized anti-Jewish Nazi ideology converged with antisemitism that was historically widespread throughout Europe at the time and had deep roots in Christian history. For all too many Christians, traditional interpretations of religious scriptures seemed to support these prejudices.

The attitudes and actions of German Catholics and Protestants during the Nazi era were shaped not only by their religious beliefs, but by other factors as well, including:
