The Trump-Thing Further Elevates Political Discourse...

Post by Lord Jim »

Trump calls Cruz a 'pussy'

Donald Trump echoed a supporter during a rally on the eve of the New Hampshire primary Monday night who called his Republican presidential rival Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas) a "pussy."

Trump was touting his hardline stance against terrorists from the Middle East when he mentioned Cruz's response during the debate Saturday on the use of waterboarding.

"Honestly I thought he'd say, 'absolutely' – and he didn't," Trump said, suggesting that Cruz was concerned about how some might take his answer on the subject.

"She just said a terrible thing," Trump said, stopping his own remarks at the arena in Manchester and pointing out a woman in the audience, beckoning her to raise her voice.

"You know what she said? Shout it out, 'cause I don't want to," Trump continued. "OK, you're not allowed to say – and I never expect to hear that from you again – she said ... he's a pussy."

"That's terrible, terrible," Trump said as the audience erupted into a mix of laughs and cheers  and he threw his hands into the air and moved away from the microphone.

Trump also went after Marco Rubio during the rally for "sweating like a dog" at the debate Saturday night, suggesting the Florida senator had a tough debate in the face of a series of attacks.

Trump is atop polls in New Hampshire heading into Tuesday's primary after taking second place to Cruz in Iowa last week.

Oh, and after that he went on to accuse Bush of acting like a child... :loon

I am alternately astonished, revolted, and profoundly depressed by the level of support this vile, toxic, pig has managed to garner....

This guy is easily the worst thing to happen to the American political system in my lifetime.

Especially when you consider that our lifetime includes the Clinton impeachment farce, the W presidency and Richard Nixon.

The Trump-Thing Further Elevates Political Discourse...

Post by RayThom »

I think this is all part of Trump's real strategy. I'm finally convinced that he really doesn't want to be POTUS. Think about it -- a supposed established billionaire seeking a $400k yearly salary for a pain-in-the-ass job for 4, or maybe 8 years? I don't buy it.

I'm now convinced the Trumpster is doing all he can to sabotage his effort without actually saying "I quit" which isn't in his vocabulary. Once out of the race he'll be able to save face by blaming everything and everyone for his failed bid. Nothing will be his fault. Plus, with all the publicity he'll garner after he's out of the race he'll make million$ on personal appearances, book publishing deals, and assorted tchotchkes. Glory days for sure.

Trump is a businessman and showman making his way to the "egress." I'm sure P.T. Barnum has to be one of his idols. You can't buy publicity like he's gotten over the last five months, along with a free political campaign so far. Trump will be long gone before the RNC convention in July... counting all his money and laughing all the way to the bank.

Well, a few months ago I thought he was cranking up the crazy just to get "fired" from the GOP nominating contest so he wouldn't have to face a real electoral challenge. I agree that Trump doesn't actually want to be president and that his campaign is just a marketing scheme for the Trump brand, but I think he's now going along for the ride just to see how far he can get. Ultimately, I think he wants to be a power broker at the GOP convention so that the party elite has to come and kiss his ring while he dictates as much as he can about who gets what.

I honestly wonder how much this is doing to promote the Trump brand; I always thought he was a blowhard and an ass, but this has removed any doubt I might have had.

With 1% reporting, it's a statistical dead heat between Cruz, Trump & Kasich.

Seems the New Hampshire electorate has multiple personality syndrome. :shrug

I had dialed up the AP results with 1% reporting, so clearly you're looking at the far more developed results as AP is now calling it for Trump with 44% reporting.

It was a brief moment when some sanity could have prevailed. Instead, you guys are STUCK with TRUMP, LJ! I actually feel some sympathy for ya, bud. Wonder how far he'll keep going with the NH bounce? :fu :shrug

:ok BERNIE!! :ok

I also noted that coming in a distant 6th place behind Bernie with .11% of the vote was a candidate registered as Vermin Supreme.

So how many more of these half-arsed "primaries" do we have to suffer before someone, somehow, somewhere decides who can be top dog?

This is only the first one and it really doesn't amount to anything.  It's just a bellwether and the true leaders won't emerge until early April, and even then it will still be a while before most people will give a shit one way or the other.

So you can go back and watch another one of those thrilling games of p̷a̷d̷d̷l̷e̷-̷b̷a̷l̷l̷ cricket for now. ;)

Actually 54 Joe...

You forgot the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the US territories:

Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and American Samoa...

(Except for DC none of the residents of these locales have a vote in the general elections, but the major parties have them participate in the nominating process.)

Additionally, some states have more than one stage for selecting delegates; a primary or caucus, as well as a state convention...

Others have a "beauty pageant" primary that doesn't award delegates and then a later caucus or state convention that does...

And then of course there are the "super delegates" who are automatically convention delegates, and are bound to no one...

Here's some light reading for you Strop:

There will be a test afterwards...

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

While there are a lot more primaries, the winnowing goes quickly now and the thing most likely will be decided by early March. Later in February there is a primary (South Carolina) and a caucus (Nevada), two more weeding events. Certainly, Hillary will be the de facto D nominee after Super Tuesday in March, and all this clamor about Sanders will be a memory. On the R side, as Jim pointed out, Christie will call it a campaign in the next day or so, and Carson and Fiorina will probably do the same after South Carolina. This will leave Trump, Cruz and the eventual nominee (Bush, Rubio or Kasich), so that one will stay interesting for a bit longer.
