new Hampshire is one of the most American of states.
liberty still lives in new Hampshire.
the founders built a system that enables peaceful revolution.
it is working.
the establishment on both sides had better not rig the game. it will go badly for us all if they do.
sanders and trump are the peoples agents of change, cut them down at your own risk.
the People are speaking loud and clear.

The political parties' current system of "primaries" for selecting presidential candidates is a 20th Century invention and has nothing whatsoever to do with "the founders" -- many of whom were firmly opposed to the formation of political parties at all. Moreover, the major parties' nominating process is largely anti-democratic, due both to internal party rules and the staggered structure of preference polling, which is heavily front-loaded with rural and southern states, leaving larger and more urban states (like California, New York and New Jersey) with little to no actual say in the process. And New Hampshire is about the least representative of American states by almost any measure.
Please, for the sake of the child and the good of the country, do not try to "teach" your daughter anything about politics or American government. Stick to fishing.

the founders' system allowed for evolution. it brought us to where we are today, and it can rescue us from where we have taken it.
the founders rock! and you can go fuck yourself.
you are just liked your preferred form of govt (overlordship)
you keep sticking your nose where it doesn t belong.
just remember you elitists, there are a few alternatives to the trump/sanders revolution.
subjugation of the people and violent revolution against the established overlords among them.
crush the will of the people and they will revolt, on both sides. they may even unite against the elitists of both parties.
but if this upsets you, I guess it s ok for you to throw off the bonds of democracy and move to china.
I deleted the nastiest part of my post.
you guys stick to the personal attacks against trump and sanders..., and me. it shows your true colors.
how s it working out for you so far?
I realize that so far only the Clinton team has gotten nasty with Bernie.
I hope the Clinton hardball doesn t effect you and guin s relationship....
oh darn, I just did what you did. brought important personal relationships into the conversation, for no apparent reason other than to upset you.
I bet that you think that it s wrong when I do it..., and you are right!
maybe you should think about what you wrote above and how the ends justify the means, in your mind.
you are probably to old to learn anything new now, but hope springs eternal!

There's a lot to be said for the rather ancient (by now) idea that the top vote getter is President and the runner-up is Vice President.... it would offer all kinds of entertainment possibilities.... imagine, Hillary with Trump as VP (or whatever combination looks most humorous).

Hey wesw:
Because there are not enough hours in the day, this will have to do.

If Trump and Sanders are the nominees, it will mean that the Republican/Democratic duopoly that has served the country not perfectly but reasonably well for the past 150 years has reached the failure point...
It will mean that both parties have simultaneously:
Nominated the most extreme and polarizing figure seeking their respective nominations...
Nominated the least qualified candidates seeking their respective nominations...
Nominated the candidates least likely to be able to work effectively with Congress to achieve anything...
Nominated the candidates whose election would be most likely to destabilize financial markets and bring on a major recession...
Nominated the candidates most damaging to US security; the candidates most likely to be disrespected by both our allies and our enemies...
And many other bad things...
Occasionally over the past 150 years, one or the other party has nominated someone completely out in ya ya land who was totally detached from reality and had no business being put within 100 miles of the leadership of a great country...
If Trump and Sanders are the nominees, for the first time, both parties will have done so at the same time...
And that will mean that the current system has failed, because it will mean that neither party has put forth a candidate that can appeal to the vast spectrum of center-right to center-left Americans (which is where the vast majority of the American electorate lies)
The best analogy I can come up with is that a Trump-Sanders race would be like if Barry Goldwater and George McGovern had both been nominated in the same election cycle...(Though that's somewhat unfair to Goldwater and McGovern, since either of them would have been many times preferable to either Trumpty or The Sandman)
This would create an enormous center lane for a qualified, well financed, centrist to drive in, (Bloomberg?) that could well result in the first election of a non-Republican non-Democrat President since before the Civil War...

Hey Jim what do you expect polls show the people overwhelmingly want politicians who will work with the opposition and are flexible enough to let common sense prevail but at he same time want radical outsiders who stick to thier principles.
And they don't realize these two are mutually exclusive.
People are just to dumb to realize the complete breakdown in government functionality coo cides with the movement to get rid of "political insiders"
People willing to take the time to learn the job and do it for the long haul are what this country needs.

I completely agree CP...
A couple of weeks ago I saw some idiot being interviewed, (I believe he was a GOP Senator from Nebraska) who said, "The American people are fed up with the deal making and gridlock in Washington"...
I wanted to scream at the television:
"Yo, idiot! You can't end gridlock without deal making you friggin' mo-ron..."

I've said it before, and I'll say it again...
This country had a better quality of governance when a handful of GOP and Demo congressional leaders would get together in a backroom at Duke Zeibert's and work out a deal on the back of a cocktail napkin then we get with all the self-righteous posturing and chest thumping today...

The best analogy I can come up with is that a Trump-Sanders race would be like if Barry Goldwater and George McGovern had both been nominated in the same election cycle...(
While Nixon was probably not quite as right wing as Barry, I don't think he really appealed to the center left in 1972. Indeed, as I recall, the 1972 election began a downward spiral in the percent of the US population turning out to vote (well below the voter turnout in the 50s and 60s).
This would create an enormous center lane for a qualified, well financed, centrist to drive in, (Bloomberg?)
Bloomberg's a centrist? don't say that while sipping a big gulp.

And Bloomberg, without a base of support in either party in Congress, would have no hope of implementing any policy initiative he might have, and would probably end up being the most ineffective president in American history.

But at least Big Gulps will only be 16oz.
And you will need to put in a special request and sign a waiver for salt at a resturant.
And guns will be for law breakers only.
