Because of the title of the thread (and the fact that it was posted by wesw) I thought that Trumpty-Dumpty had called it quits and I just hadn't heard about it yet.  Rats!!

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

The only way to decrease illegal immigration from Mexico is for there to be more opportunities in Mexico. Greater economic interconnectedness also gives us more means of influencing the government in Mexico to do something more effective about corruption and the narcotraffickinig and to create a country with less disparity of wealth. Better jobs in Mexico allow more Mexicans to buy American products like iPhones and Nike t-shirts.

And it makes the destructive effects of a disparity of income visible so we can see that Mexico is what we are becoming unless we address the fairness issue here as well.

So there is a mixture of better and worse effects.

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

I trust you are being facetious.

I have been in many very NON-tourist areas of Mexico several times. Puebla, Toluca, Distro Federal, its suburbs of Texcoco and San Vicente, and Cuidad Juarez. I know a lot of good people there. Many people here have the very mistaken impression that everyone in Mexico is trying to come to the USA. Most are trying to make better lives for themselves and their families right where they are. Not everyone is poor, or dealing drugs, or killing people.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.
