Considering how much you were trashing Trump in the first nine or ten pages in the other thread, until it was apparent that he was the front runner for the nomination, and that now he is at least the third messiah you are looking to, I am quite sure that you will be singing Cruz's praises if Trump shows any signs of flaming out.

I think Cruz, if elected, has a better chance of doing some real damage to the country than Trump does, but I could not vote for either.

Before I start pouring gasoline on my thinning hair and hitting it with my Bic, a little perspective should be shown here...

Before last night, Drumpf was widely predicted to run the table and win every state...

He lost 4 of them, including one to Marco Rubio, who wasn't predicted to win any yesterday...(and a lot of that was due to early voting; late deciders went strongly for Rubio... and Kasich was the spoiler for him in Virginia...)

Drumpf's overall delegate count was kept a lot lower than expected:

Right now, after "Super Tuesday" Trump has 287, Cruz has 161, Rubio has 87 (this wasn't expected to be his night) and Kasich has 25....

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls ... count.html

It takes 1,237 to win the nomination...

This thing is far from over....

Now, if on March 15th, Drumpf wins the winner-take-all primaries in Florida and Ohio, then in the immortal words of Dandy Don Meridith, it will be "turn out the lights, the party's over" time for the nomination...

And then, life-long Reagan Republicans such as myself will have to decide what to do next....

Vote for Hillary? Back Bloomberg? an Independent GOP Candidate?

Anything but Drumpf...

If my party bestows its nomination upon this race-baiting vulgarian, then we must lose by a margin so historic and breathtaking that my grand children's grand children would never ever consider voting for such a person ever again...

I always liked hearing him start in on that on MNF, but since it's Willie Nelson song shouldn't he get the credit?

And three other thoughts . . .

1. Trump still hasn't gotten over 50% even in the states he won easily, and as noted, this has resulted in his modest delegate lead. He is an invention of the media but he is vulnerable if the media picks up where it left off before Super Tuesday with the successful attacks on Trump's character and hypocrisy.

2. Rubio gained a lot of ground in the last couple of weeks pretty much everywhere, won a state and ran close in a couple of others, but somehow the media headlines are that "he stumbled"?

3. Why haven't the powers that be gotten Kasich to drop yet? By staying in, he's basically a Trump ally. He blocked at least one large state win for Rubio (in Virginia), plus Vermont, and he took votes everywhere that would have helped Rubio get more delegates and continue the Rubio momentum story. If Rubio can't get things turned back his way, Kasich's staying in this may have ensured his party gets Trump.

Oh and as between cuuz, cruz or trump, I vote none of the above.

I'm with Lindsey Graham on that one...

I'm in complete agreement with you on this...

I'm a Kasich fan, he would have made an excellent President, but it's not his year...

It's time for him to get out and go all in for Marco...(he might still make an excellent VP pick)

Cruz failed to get 50% even in his home state of Texas and thus gave up 33 delegates to Trump. Two thirds of Cruz's delegates are from that one single state (99/161). Cruz is running a pathetically weak second place right now.

Rubio actually has a shot in Fla. and if he takes those 99 delegates he could be the real challenger to Trump. The masters of the GOP have two weeks to get behind him. All he has to do is promise a federal HOI program to replace the private insurance which is fleeing the state as sea levels rise and hurricanes get more powerful. All of the real estate people in the state will line up behind him then; builders, brokers, bankers. (if the state of Fla tries to replace private insurance it will guarantee a state bankruptcy, sooner or later).

He's thinking he can win it (and do well in Michigan) giving him a hefty sack of delegates to help play kingmaker.

Well, you have to mix with those kinds of people if you live in Ohio.

Fucking autocorrect.

And by now I've said it enough to prove they've meddled with the predictive text so the former word doesn't automatically suggest the latter.

Well, if John can actually win Ohio, then he should stay in...

But given how poorly he has been doing in the primaries to date, despite his approval rating as Governor, that's starting to look unlikely...

If his staying in the race means that he plays spoiler, preventing Rubio from winning the state and allowing Drumpf to take all the state's winner-take-all delegates with 32% of the vote, then he needs to get out....

NOW...
