The CBC, for all its alleged left-wing slant, published a rather generous obituary. I am certainly not going to speak ill of the man and would not have wished his suffering in the past 18 months on anyone, but I would be lying if I didn't admit that I am feeling some relief that Toronto politics will be spared the clown circus that characterized his time in office, both as mayor and as a councillor before and after.

I had been meaning to post about his deteriorating condition; I read a report a few days ago that said he had been re-admitted to the hospital, with "his family gathered around him"...
That's never good news...

There was a rumour going around last week that he had died; the family came out quickly with a statement that, if you read between the lines, sounded very much like a Hail Mary play. When they said over the weekend that putting him in palliative care was intended to get him strong enough for another round of chemo, I thought yeah, right, but I was surprised that it was this fast.

The Clown Prince of Politics is gone. He made Drumpf seem almost normal.
Mayor no more.
