Ted Cruz Took My Advice

I thought to myself, 'Gee, what could make me hate Ted Cruz as a presidential candidate anymore than I do now?'
Then he made this this move -
After Losing 5 States To Trump, Cruz Slated To Add Carly Fiorina To 'Ticket'
Although Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) continues to trail Republican frontrunner Donald Trump by hundreds of delegates, the senator is reportedly expected to reveal Wednesday that he's picking former rival Carly Fiorina as his running mate.
Cruz will present Fiorina as a member of his "ticket," anonymous sources told National Review and Politico. The Associated Press also confirmed the news.
New Hampshire's WMUR first reported that Cruz intended to name the former Hewlett-Packard CEO as his vice presidential pick.
NBC News also captured footage of Fiorina arriving in Indianapolis ahead of the "major" 4 p.m. announcement.
The news comes after Trump counted victories Tuesday night in five primary states. According to the New York Times, Cruz has secured 546 delegates to Trump's 953.
Fiorina didn't shy away from attacking Cruz while vying for the Republican nomination, calling it "odd" that he didn't renounce his Canadian citizenship until 2014 as questions swirled about Cruz's eligibility to run for President.

I thought to myself, 'Gee, what could make me hate Ted Cruz as a presidential candidate anymore than I do now?'
Then he made this this move -
Yeah, but you're not the target audience...
The target audience is @W...Now that Carly Fiorina is on the ticket, she's going to run out and get herself a Cruz For President yard sign, slap a Cruz bumper sticker on her car, and next Tuesday cast an enthusiastic vote for him in the Indiana primary...
It's obvious why he's made this move...
He's desperate to do something...
anything...to shake up the trajectory and dynamics of the race because if things continue to unfold as they currently are Trump will be the first ballot nominee...
It's also understandable why she agreed to do this. She had already endorsed him, and it's not like she has anything else to do the next few weeks. (Her phone hasn't exactly been ringing off the hook with job offers since she got shit-canned at Hewlett Packard...)
She had some good debate appearances, but put together such a poor and ineffectual campaign organization that she was never able to capitalize on them.
Aside from getting a little publicity splash today and maybe tomorrow, I don't see this move getting him anything tangible in terms of primary votes, either next week in Indiana or beyond...
In fact it's a testament to how weak a hand he holds that he couldn't get another woman of higher political stature to agree to participate in this desperate stunt. I'm sure he would have much rather have gotten somebody like South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley to take this, but she has an actual political future that's not worth jeopardizing, which is not a burden that Fiorina bears...
It's one thing not to flee from a sinking ship, but it's another matter altogether to actually volunteer to climb aboard one...

It's kinda like it's closing time and Ted made a proposition to a 2 o'clocker and she was so blind drunk that she accepted....

Careful, Jim — @W's liable to tell you to GFY or call you a bitch, or a prick, or some other less-than-complimentary term.

I don't know, if he was hoping for a second or third ballot nomination, you would think he'd pair up with someone more part of the party establishment/leadership than Fiorina. I think she just makes his nomination much less likely.

That's part of why the stench of desperation wafts so strongly from this...
If he weren't up against the wall, he would never have made this move. Ideally I'm sure he would have preferred the type of running mate you're suggesting, (he probably would have pushed very hard to get Kasich to take it.)
And while if he were the actual nominee I'm sure he could have gotten somebody like that to accept it, (even in a losing effort being the VP nominee tends to raise one's stature. He probably could have gotten somebody like Haley or another rising star to accept it.) In fact in that situation, a politician might feel that running with Cruz could help them broaden their appeal and get votes from his supporters in a future race...
But any serious political type who has potential for a future can easily recognize what
this is about, and would want no part of it...
Compromising your reputation by getting involved with Cruz like this, without the upside of actually being the nominee doesn't make a whole lot sense if you think you are going to have credible future political plans...
Careful, Jim — @W's liable to tell you to GFY or call you a bitch, or a prick, or some other less-than-complimentary term.
Well Bill, she might just do that on general principles,

but I doubt that comment of mine will be a catalyst for it...
I'm pretty sure @W can recognize sarcasm when she sees it...

Except the party establishment hates him nearly, if not just as much, as they hate Trump -- and none of them wants to play second fiddle to him.

The only thing less appealing than a Cruz/Fiorina ticket is a Trump/Cruz (or Cruz/Trump) ticket.

I think despite all the bad rhetoric back and forth, if Trump offers Cruz the VP slot he'd take it in a heartbeat...
The man has absolutely no principles, and he's already so widely disliked within the GOP establishment he has no reputation to lose...
I think he would calculate that running with Trump would give him a leg up for 2020, and I think his calculation would be wrong...
I suspect that Trump would really like to be able to get Kasich on his ticket, though I doubt he would take it...
Though I could be wrong; if Lyndon Johnson could agree to run with Jack Kennedy, I guess anything is possible...
But the problem with running with Trump is you'd have to go around the country defending things that would severely damage you in any future race...
I have a really hard time imagining John Kasich standing up and talking about how getting Mexico to pay for a border wall makes perfect sense...

Stealing that!! It's a nice companion to "Going ugly early"*.
*Copping off with an ugly person early in the evening in the hope of guaranteeing a shag.

Cruz has nothing positive to offer the voters -- no policy, no issues... nada. He's only in the race now to try and spoil a first nom bid for Trump, and failing miserably. This guy reeks of desperation and has become nothing more than a laughable cartoon figure.

Good observation, rubato but ... no, I didn't. The pied cormorant is aka pied shag, particularly in Australia and New Zealand.

Ah, I thought you were calling her an albatross. I don't think any normal heterosexual male thinks " shag" looking at Carly though. A knot hole in a splintery plank is more sensually appealing.
