"Let's pretend we are tolerant of other faiths by picking a religion that none of the delegates know enough about to object."

And they never get haircuts. But those knives can cost as much as a good hound dog.

That's our wes ... paying more attention to the trappings of a religion than its teachings and tenets.  I'll bet he couldn't repeat anything she said in her invocation, not even at gunpoint.

And as for the "big ass dagger", google 'kirpan' and study up on it, wes.  It is more than just a sword that these people carry, it is one of the five articles of faith that a baptized Sikh wears; and like many present-day icons of the various religions of the world it is more about the symbolism than it is anything else.  In many cases, the blade is not sharpened.

what I noticed was that what she described was remarkably similar to my understanding of Christianity.

in fact, I was touched deeply by her invocation when I watched it live.

but I don t want to argue, I just wanted to present what I thought was something beautiful, something that we could agree on, that certain things are universal....

plus, they carry those big ass daggers.... :)

if you did not notice, I also used word play to create a double entendre in a probably unsuccessful attempt to make scooter laugh....

don t over think things, man...

...sometimes a kirpan is just a kirpan.
