While driving home tonight I was struck by a thought:
What would dear departed DBA think of this election cycle? I'm sure it would fit into his apocalyptic narrative somehow (and I just might believe that bit) but I just can't see him shoehorning it into his usual good vs. evil dichotomy

That was an old poster who went by the name of David Ben Ariel. He was probably the closest thing to a skinhead, white supremacist, that you'd ever want to know. If something was horribly racist he probably had something good to say about it.

Definitely not skinhead though definitely white supremacist (with a twist) He was a more extremist version of an Armstrongian. Most notable for being an anti-homosexual homosexual and blessing this world with the sentence: Jesus hates your pagan Easter ham!

At least he usually just started his own threads and kept his comments confined there, without cluttering up the whole board (unlike some other CSB members I could mention...
) so it was pretty easy to just ignore him.

The few times he let his guard down and posted elsewhere was something else. I wonder what the
Guy would have been like if he could let go of his self hatred.

Probably impossible to parse out. Don't forget that all his racist and anti-gay rhetoric was tied up in his claims of having become infected with HIV by having sex with a black man.
ETA - and it was also difficult to know whether his refusal to take HIV meds was really because he believed the AIDS denialist claptrap he spouted, or if it was another manifestation of his self-hatred.
