He had a particular mad-on for Sheriff Joe...
Joe Arpaio loses re-election bid in Arizona

WASHINGTON (UPI) — The Arizona sheriff who has spent more than 20 years touting himself as the toughest in America, partly because of his harsh stance against illegal immigration, has lost his re-election campaign.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio, nationally known for operating a tent camp where he imprisons people he has identified as illegal immigrants, lost his bid for a seventh re-election as top law enforcement official in Maricopa County, Ariz., to retired police Sgt. Paul Penzone.

Arpaio, 84, who first won election in 1993, has drawn criticism for his tactics against undocumented immigrants in the county, but has been consistently re-elected by voters at least partially because of those tactics.

In the weeks leading up to the election, several groups in the state worked to mobilize Hispanic voters, knocking on doors, driving buses and nudging people to vote early.

Arpaio’s campaign was weakened in the months leading up to Election Day as he awaits a court date for criminal contempt charges for ignoring court orders to stop racially profiling Hispanic drivers as part of his quest to catch undocumented immigrants.

Arpaio admitted he was a little “nervous” on Election Day, which makes sense considering the upcoming court date and the millions of dollars poured into a group backing Penzone called Maricopa Strong.

He lost by 10 points, even though Trump, who he had closely aligned himself with, won the state by four points...

My personal opinion of Arpaio, (as I've posted before) is that much like J. Edgar Hoover, he accomplished some good things but hung on too long...

He became totally imperious, and completely lost it when he decided to respond to criticism from Obama by throwing in with the "birthers"...

And now he's under consideration for a Homeland Security appointment.

Yeah, I thought of Andrew when I saw the result in that contest, too.

Good riddance. I don't think that even a Republican Congress would approve him for anything.

I think I see where the "black cowboy from Wisconsin" got the inspiration for his uniform —

Clark just doesn't have as much fruit salad as does Gen'l Wm. Ward has, so he makes up for it in other ways ... like all those other badges and pins over his right breast pocket.  It might be interesting for someone to do some research and see just what-all he is wearing, how or why he thinks he is qualified for them, and why he feels he must wear them.

I wonder — if you gave him a guitar and a sequined suit if he could pass for Charlie Pride.

Perfect choice, a head of Homeland Security who believes that people can only exercise their !st Amendment right "peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances" if he agrees with them. Otherwise, any such assembly will be called a "riot" and tear gas, beatings and curfews will be used to "quell" any dissent against the government.

I wonder if he will also be tasked with shutting down the newspapers that don't keep their tongues planted firmly and deeply enough in Trump's rectum

I have to laugh, wes.  Trump is already flip-flopping on major issues, and it isn't even a week since the election:
1)  Prosecuting Hillary over the email server bullshit is 'no longer high on his list of priorities'.
2)  He says he is now open to some ways of allowing undocumented immigrants to have a path to citizenship.
3)  That legendary "wall" on the southern border is now going to be merely a fence in some places.
4)  He's kissing up to the NRA by saying he wants to create a way to make "concealed carry" a national policy; or at the very least make a concealed carry permit valid across state lines.

What else is he going to have reneged on by the time he takes the oath of office on Inauguration Day?
