Presidential Dog Bite: Sunny Injures a White House Guest

The Obama family’s second dog left a bite mark which required stitches

Published 10:59 am, Thursday, January 12, 2017

The 18-year-old — who is a family friend — was visiting the White House Monday when she bent down to pet Sunny, one of the president’s Portuguese water dogs, when the animal bit her face.

According to TMZ, the girl had a gash under her right eye and had to get stitches after she was examined by the family’s physician, Dr. Ronny Jackson.

“She’s gonna be okay, but we’re told she’ll likely have a small scar, which upset her,” TMZ noted. “She posted various pics of the injury and her visit to Dr. Jackson on social media.”

Sunny is the second dog adopted by the Obamas. Their first dog, Bo, accompanied the Obamas to the White House in 2009 and was famously referenced in Barack Obama’s victory speech when he told his daughters that they would be getting a new puppy as a victory present. Sunny was added to the Obama family in August 2013 and was introduced to the public through First Lady Michelle Obama’s Twitter account.

The White House has not commented on the incident.
Perhaps the dog was feeling kind of low, due to Drumph taking over the WH?

I was going to say that's it's a shame that the dog didn't bite Trump...

But then if he had, he might have gotten rabies...

The dog, I mean...

All dogs are unpredictable, moreso under high stress situations like introductions to strangers or acquaintances with whom they aren't terribly familiar. Also many humans don't know how to behave around dogs - bending over and putting one's face up close to the face of a dog is not always advisable, even if that dog is one's own. Dogs do send clear signals of distress, anxiety, aggression, as well as contentment, etc. - but one does need to be paying attention and many folks don't.

Too bad, I'm sure they'll end up coughing up some dough to this *friend* and hopefully nothing bad happens to the dog.

The Breitbart website reported "the little tramp who is well known around DC political watering holes, and while stinking of liquor and marijuana, kicked the defenseless dog (Sunny) when it drooled on her Brian Atwood shoes."

The website also reported that "the Obama's, not wanting to deal with an end of days scandal, had the dog quickly euthanized and replaced by an understudy."

Kellyanne Conway will have much more than she knows on this incident during tonight's Trump approved newscasts.

If the dog is in one place, or worse backed up to something so it is in a corner, and the human approaches until very close and leans over that looks like an aggressive move to the dog and can provoke a defensive nip. If the human stops a little ways away and invites the dog to come forward then the dog feels in control and less threatened and can see it as a friendly invitation. (or not if the dog does not like the humans body language, but at least there will be no biting)

The other thing is that when humans show their teeth they are being friendly, or trying to appear so, I don't know of another mammal who does this. Most are showing fear or aggression.

I think the dog mistook the girl for Kellyanne Conway.

Dales' Headline:  Obama's Mutt Bites Visitor .....

A minimal amount of research shows that the dog is not a "mutt" but a pure-bred Portuguese water dog and was obtained from a reputable breeder in the Midwest.

So what is it, dales?  Biased much against dogs in general, or just against anything having to do with Obama?

You grow irksome bb. :arg

I know the dog is AKC registered and not a mutt.

So which is bullyboy?

Ya gonna have a hissy-fit or recognize.....

It's a tongue-in-cheek headline, you humorless dolt!

Ironically (or perhaps not, given the source and the obvious message), the picture of the dog in the OP link shows the wrong dog.
