der Drumpfführer, Executive Orders, and Louis XIV

Since taking the oath of office on Black Friday (January 20th), President Trump Image has signed no less than a dozen Executive Orders calling for actions that start to dismantle the Affordable Care Act, initiate action against illegal immigrants, call for building a wall, the setting aside of the TPP and NAFTA, and remove provisions in FHA home loans that will cost the average American more money when purchasing a home.  Not laws, which are bills that are proposed in Congress and (supposedly) debated and tweaked until something that is in the best interest of most if not all Americans emerges, but unilateral orders promulgated at the whim of a single man.

This is not government of the people, by the people, and for the people.  This is instead government of the Trump, by the Trump, and for the Trump and his cronies.  Don't think of the greatest good for the greatest number, think of a return to feudalism.  Don't think of President Roosevelt declaring December 7th a "day of infamy" as he requests (not orders) Congress to declare war on Japan, think instead along the lines of the King of Id on his balcony delivering his latest royal decree to the peasant multitude assembled below.

"L'etat, c'est moi" (I am the state) may have been acceptable in the day of Louis XIV of France.  This attitude did, in the short term, bring France to its peak of absolute power but also ultimately led to the French Revolution.  Trump's actions may in fact cause a short-lived bubble of glory, but let's wait to see what happens in the long term.

Trump is acting in exactly the manner that the GOP falsely accused Obama of. If you lie long enough an loud enough eventually people lose the ability and inclination to care about the truth.

Didn’t monkey ears do this too after he lost his majority in Congress.

However, I do have to admit that President Trump, and I say President Trump with respect out of fear because the leader is not a man to be messed with, he is a character. You bring knife to a fight he bring a machine gun. You bring a gun and he bring a tank with a flame thrower. You burn his house, he nukes your city. It is a good thing he is not a gangster or there would be dead bodies all over the place. He is not into moderation.

Whether or not he is the little man’s savior or not we will have to wait and see.

      • Not like the legacy of spangled flags,
        that flew vowing freedom throughout the land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates now sags
a ranting madman with a mouth, whose fame
Is for bigoted discourse, and his name,
Tweeter of Nonsense. A heart that's vile
flings world-wide insults; and piggish eyes command
with cruelty that the copper lady now be defiled.
"Trash what we vowed, when we were great," cries he
With ranting lips. "Lock out your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Don't send these homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I bar the way beside the golden door!"

Speaking of guillotines: The only one that has ever been used for its intended purpose in N. America is in Saint Pierre and Miquelon in the local museum. It's set up in the stairwell between the ground floor and the upper floor so you can see all the details of its construction. I offered (very generously, I think) to buy a goat and see how it worked. The French are not as enthusiastic about science as I had thought.

No, I am talking about liberty that is personal freedom, the right of the individual to be himself. I believe that was something that liberals along with anti-materialism used to believe in and I still believe in, but I am not going to go out of my way prove anything to anyone. But I will say this because I feel like it: I don’t believe in racism because I don’t believe one race is superior to another. I have met black technicians that were smarter and better technician than myself and it didn’t bother me.
There is no filtering going on in here if I feel or believe something I say it.

Oh yeah? Were they better than those Asian technicians? I highly doubt it. They would surely beat those Asians at basketball though.

Just so you know that I'm not a racist, some of my best friends are black Asians...
