I'm certainly not going anywhere!
Personally, I don’t believe in bros before hoes, or hoes before bros. There needs to be a balance. A homie-hoe-stasis, if you will.

That's It
In '68 I was in contact with a student peace union based in Toronto in regards to dodging military service. (When I was 19 I looked like a tall, skinny, pubic-hairless, middle school student.) Once I failed my humiliating Induction Physical and proudly earned my Selective Service System 4-F status I ended my contact with the group.
I'm glad I never had to make that decision. It would have been such a loss to my country.
God blessed this American.

Re: That's it
I made some similar contacts a few years later Ray, but then the war was ending (although I wasn't entirely convinced what a reelected Nixon would really do--perhaps start it up again to avoid being the first president to lose a war?) and I was able to join ROTC and get around my low lottery number (reasoning it was pretty certain that in 4 years the war would be done). I'm honestly glad I didn't have to make the choice--and in 1968 it would have been a lot harder to see what other choices I had.

joni Mitchell was a brilliant artist.
I was kinda devastated when I found out that she had abandoned her child to achieve success.
she would have been brilliant either way.
sad.

Giving a baby up for adoption when you are dirt poor & pregnant IS NOT ABANDONING it!
In an interview on CBC Newsworld's Pamela Wallin Live--broadcast, by coincidence, on Feb. 19, 1996, Kilauren's 31st birthday--the singer explained that she had no recourse but adoption. "I didn't have a penny," she said. "I had no money for diapers, or a room to take her to. There was no career on the horizon. Three years later, I had a recording contract and a house and a car, but how could I see that in the future?"
When the fuck are you leaving this toxic place, already?!?!

I agree, indeed, it is quite the opposite thing. and as an adoptive parent myself, I am thankful that there are people who have enough love for their child and enough courage to do this.
And FWIW, I believe she was something like 16 or 17 when she had to make this choice.

No, she was 21 and married - a marriage that later fell apart.
Her daughter was adopted by wonderful people, had a great childhood with a sibling and many advantages, and is now a mother herself.
You can read all about it here: http://jonimitchell.com/library/view.cfm?id=91
Anyone who knows much about Mitchell's mental health and career/life trajectory would also likely acknowledge that her daughter was probably better off adopted.

The one thing I like I about this thread, is that it gives me an excuse to re-post one of my all-time favorite YouTube videos:
