Apparently The Folks At Breitbart...

Post by Lord Jim »

don't have a whole lot of confidence in El Clodillo's promise to "Make America Great Again"...(or maybe they're just hedging their bets...)

I signed up for the Breitbart Newsletter shortly after Trump was elected, (I figured if we were going to have a President who was reliant on this alt-right propaganda operation for "information" it would be worthwhile to know what they were churning out for the faithful...)

Today this arrived in my email:

Subject line: Perilous Times Call for Preparedness Values

Image

Dear Friends,

Americans are under threats from multiple fronts:

- The desperate and violent left

- Islamic terrorists and aggressions from Russia, China and North Korea

- A global economic bubble waiting to burst

- A crumbling infrastructure with our power grid vulnerable to cyber attacks

When a crisis from any of these threats arises, the government will be virtually powerless to provide widespread emergency help to individual citizens.

You need to act – while you still can. You need a plan to feed your family when the chaos erupts.

That’s why we’re giving Breitbart subscribers an exclusive opportunity to invest in emergency food:

Image

GET A 1-WEEK EMERGENCY FOOD KIT FOR $17.76
Our 1-Week Emergency Food Kit includes 40 adult servings of healthy and delicious, easy-to-prepare recipes. Each is sealed in our military-grade Mylar packaging, which keeps your food fresh up to 25 years.

To help you prepare for these perilous times, we’re offering a 74% savings on this emergency food supply for a very limited time. We encourage you to secure one week of emergency food – at the very least – for every member of your household. However, due to extremely high demand, we must limit each customer to 4 per order.

We can only hold this exclusive offer until 3/15/17 at noon PST, or while our extremely limited units last. Now’s the best time to get prepared for the best value.

Stay alert and prepared out there!

In Liberty,
Your friends at My Patriot Supply

Well, I have to admit, $17.76 (I see what they did there...very subtle) for "40 adult servings of healthy and delicious, easy-to-prepare recipes" sounds like a good deal...

(I wonder how many units wes has ordered... I'm sure he's also on the newsletter list ;) )

But I have to say that these dire, apocalyptic predictions don't seem to demonstrate a whole lot of faith in The Orange Leader...

I mean, aren't we supposed to start winning so much that we're going to get sick of winning?

These predictions would seem to suggest otherwise...

And I was particularly struck by Russia being included on the list of countries that we're facing "aggressions" from...

Didn't they get the memo?

Time to stock up on ammo, Jim.

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

Given Lord Dampnut's proposal for slashing FEMA's budget, they may have a point about that one...

Surely you have something better than that. That is less violent than a bench-clearing brawl at a baseball game. Less violent than Nolan Ryan punching out Robin Ventura. The violent right kills people, lots of them. Timothy McVeigh, Eric Robert Rudolphs, White Aryan Resistance, the Klan, &c.

And anarchists are anti-liberals and not leftists.

There have not been any significant number of violent leftists since the 60s and 70s.

I've gotta back rube up on this: the only thing the anarchists are for is destruction...sort of like a certain "alt-right" sentient sweat-pimple, formerly of Breitbart, currently in the White House...
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right. The only difference is, they're wrong.

One thing the so-called anarchists and the so-called alt-right have in common is a nihilism that prioritizes smashing over building. It's a juvenile and idiotic approach to political expression.

There is no actual leftist organization I know of that advocates any kind of violence as a tactic; even the nominally "revolutionary communist" factions have long abandoned platforms that even theoretically called for insurrection. I am proud to call myself a "hard left" Socialist and am committed to non-violence. I'm pretty sure every actual leftist recognizes that anything that smacks of "violence" will be seized on by the media -- and especially the sensationalist right-wing media that dominates TV, radio and the Internet -- to promote the hysterical fear-mongering narrative of leftist danger exemplified by the Breitbart "newsletter" in the OP.

Perhaps Breitbart and its ilk are so overwrought these days because the nation got a tiny glimpse into one strain of socialism during the election and seemed to like it very much indeed. Progress is slow and incremental -- especially after 70 years of frightening and conditioning Americans with a socialist boogeyman -- but "leftists" are once again gaining some voice in the conversation.
GAH!

Don't you know? You are supposed to save and drink your own freedom urine!
Personally, I don’t believe in bros before hoes, or hoes before bros. There needs to be a balance. A homie-hoe-stasis, if you will.

Knowing your odds of being right are somewhat akin to you winning the lottery.

Even in your muddled thinking, you wouldn't confuse black bloc with the political right.

Which does not in any way prove that they are on the left. As others have noted above.

Well, that's not fair...

Over the past 20 years, rube's chances of being right have proven to be much better than his chances of winning the lottery (assuming you're talking about something like the Powerball Lottery...and not just a scratcher card...)

But of course much worse than a broken clock...

Being right twice a day, on average, is a record for accuracy rube can only dream of...

But there have been a few occasions where he has been right even three times in a single day...(but he always makes up for it by being completely wrong about everything for the following month...my experience in dealing with rube over the past two decades indicates that he is capable of blindly stumbling onto the the truth about some topic on average, about twice a week...)

Nowhere near as good as a stopped clock, but certainly better than the 63 million-to-one odds of winning the top Powerball prize...
