I Don't Think Hillary Is Doing Her Party Any Favors...

Post by Lord Jim »

With this Poor, Poor, Pitiful Me National Tour she's been on...

The absolute worst of this "blame anybody but me" excusefest came a couple of days ago...

In addition to blaming the usual suspects for her defeat; sexism (that would be those men who voted for Trump over her who would also vote for a liberal Democratic male candidate over a conservative Republican female candidate just because of their gender...not a particularly large group) James Comey, (Earth To Hillary: if you hadn't made the arrogant decision to have a personal email server for government business, there's no Comey investigation, no Comey report, no Comey Congressional testimony, no Comey letter, no Comey nothing...that one is all on YOU, 100%) and the hacked email releases (this is the one valid point she did make; the timing of the release of those emails does strongly suggest co-ordination with someone in the US) she has now added the Democratic National Committee to the list of those who done her wrong...

And of course throwing one of her most ardent and loyal supporters, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz under the bus in the process:
Clinton rips DNC: I inherited nothing

Hillary Clinton blasted the Democratic National Committee on Wednesday, saying that she "inherited nothing" from the party after winning its presidential nomination last year.

"So I’m now the nominee of the Democratic Party. I inherit nothing from the Democratic Party," she said during a question and answer session at Code Conference in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.

"I mean, it was bankrupt. It was on the verge of insolvency. Its data was mediocre to poor, nonexistent, wrong," she recalled. "I had to inject money into it."
http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing- ... atic-party

This is the same DNC that was completely in the tank for her throughout the whole nomination process...

Real class, Hil....

And she also could not help herself from repeating once again the blatant lie that she couldn't stop repeating all throughout the campaign; that her private server (which it has been well established stored classified material) violated no government rules (Both the FBI investigation and The State Department IG report made quite clear that this claim is 100% false, but for some bizarre reason, she just can't stop herself from repeating it :loon )

None of this, makes Hillary a worse choice than Trump , (Of course the "not as bad as Trump" standard produces a very long list...) but all this refusal to accept any significant responsibility, and her clueless failure to understand the seriousness of what she did, and her blatant dishonesty about it, does help to remind people once again why Hillary was the second most disliked major Presidential nominee in modern political history...

ETA:

Apparently some of those who were at the DNC are not willing to lie quietly beneath the wheels of the bus:
DNC data guru denies Hillary Clinton's claim she "inherited nothing" from DNC

Andrew Therriault, the former director of data science for the Democratic National Committee, said Hillary Clinton's claim that she "inherited nothing" from the DNC is totally off base.

Earlier this week at a media and technology conference in California, Clinton claimed the Democratic Party didn't give her the data-related resources she needed, sparking a brutal response from Therriault on Twitter.

"DNC data folks: today's accusations are f***ing bull****, and I hope you understand the good you did despite that nonsense," Therriault tweeted Wednesday in a series of tweets that have since been deleted but were captured by other news outlets.

"Private mode be damned, this is too important," Therriault said in another tweet. "I'm not willing to let my people be thrown under the bus without a fight."

Clinton's comments Wednesday resurfaced responses from her critics that Clinton still isn't owning her loss to now-President Donald Trump. Clinton she wasn't a "perfect" candidate, but that isn't why she lost, blaming everything from the Democrats' data operations to the media covering her email scandal like "Pearl Harbor."

This is getting tiresome and she needs to just shut up about the election and move on to the issues and the resistance, if she's truly committed to that and not just feeding her ego and promoting her latest book. A lot of the goodwill I had toward her when I resolved to support her nomination is rapidly dwindling, and I don't think I'm the only progressive who feels that way. Lots of mainstream Democrats do as well, I believe, from what I'm reading online. I don't for a minute believe that the machine built by Obama in '08 and '12 was entirely dismantled by the time the campaign started in early '15. She has NEVER admitted that she, HER CAMPAIGN, fucked up in their upper Midwest campaign strategy - and she had warning from Michael Moore and the Bernie crowds. Comey mishandled the emails investigation by making public statements and not making public statements about the Trump/Russia investigation, by that's not the only reason she lost. I honestly believe that the critical voters in the states that won it for Trump were responding to her weak message on economy and jobs - yes, she had a specific and decent plan compared to Trump's empty promises, but it wasn't effectively communicated.

But in any case, it's OVER DONE WITH GONE!

I'm glad she's declared she'll never run for office again. Now she needs to stop feeding her ego and giving Trump fodder for more distraction.

I'm sure it must be the chardonnay talking.

She's obviously "priming the pump" (have you ever heard that term used before?) for some political purpose, but for what? A run for her old Senate seat, or maybe for Mayor of NYC? I'm not a religious person but I pray to the most favored God that she's not laying groundwork for the "new and improved" Hillary in 2020.

Proving that all of the personality traits which made her unattractive before are still intact. But ... she is not as whiny and self-involved as D. Trump and uses hyperbole with greater restraint.

She really was the lesser of two evils and still is.

That's why I voted for her in November

Anybody remember JFK? All the names I hear as possibles for the Dems in the next presidential cycle--Biden, Clinton, Warren, even Al Franken--they are ALL TOO OLD !

JFK was 43 when he was elected. Obama was 35! The Dems cannot win the next time around with 'age and experience'

Clinton inherited nothing from the DNC when she was nominated. OF COURSE! That is the way the dems work. The job of the DNC ends with the closing gavel of the convention. It has not changed much since Will Rogers declared 'I am not a member of any organized political party. I am a democrat.' Please note that the Senator from Vermont was running against Mrs. Clinton for that same nomination. He is still the Senator from Vermont and he is still not a Democratic Senator

Obama was 47 years and 5 months old when he was first inaugurated President.

35 is the Constitutional minimum age to be elected President; Teddy Roosevelt was the youngest President at 42.

eta: Expected lifespan continues to push ever higher, with some estimating children in the current generation may expect to live well into their 90s to 100+ as medical science continues to advance. Certainly many healthy people continue to work well into their 70s as a matter of choice or circumstance. I don't consider Joe Biden's age to be a bar to him running in 2020; his wealth of experience in D.C. means he would suffer much less from learning curve-related job stress and one can only assume his physician First Lady would work diligently to proactively safeguard his health. He certainly appears much healthier than our current Oval Office squatter.

It's nice to see a younger person with kids in the White House, like JFK and Obama. But an older President with many more years of experience and wisdom is a real nice thing, too. I'd argue that anybody who has the stamina to endure the presidential campaign cycle in today's system is adequately healthy to govern and I would not turn up my nose to either Biden or Sanders in 2020. Or Biden/Sanders.

And Liz Warren is only 67! That's NOT too old!

If I were a Democrat, I would certainly see a role for Hillary to play...

She does have a block of supporters and admirers, and if she focused on current issues, she could help to fire up and motivate these folks for 2018...

And of course, she's got great skills for raising money, which she could also apply to the midterm races...

But her playing a constructive role depends of course on whether she actually really does care about the issues and values she's espoused, or if for her it's never been about anything more than her own personal ambition...

At the moment, with her seeming obsession for dwelling on her defeat, casting blame for it in every direction but her own, (it certainly isn't remotely helpful to be igniting an internal fight by disparaging the DNC) she's showing strong indications of the latter...

Well, I (along with most of the world) am not sure what to make of the fact that the GOP won this time around with "age and inexperience"... :?

Agreed about the topic of the thread (disparaging the DNC), but to be fair there are many many many in the media and elsewhere "dwelling on her defeat" and there are quite a few other factors to blame besides Hillary Clinton's own personal faults.
