I'm sure that yet again Shep is buried under a blizzard of hate tweets, emails and blog postings, from the FOX viewing Trumpanzee Faithful, and that yet again, there will be a concerted effort to get him shit canned:

I highly recommend sending this to anyone you know who thinks "Uranium One" is the biggest scandal since Watergate...(As Il Boobce has described it) The demolition begins about 50 seconds in:

You can see a sampling of some of the thoughtful, knowledgeable twitter comments from the Trumpanzees in response here:

FOX News must be keeping Smith on in order to justify their "fair and balanced" advertisement. Otherwise it would be misleading the public with false advertisement.

The anti-Shep tweets are incredulous, yet absolutely maddening.

FOX ditched ‘Fair and Balanced’ last summer. Now they are ‘Most watched. Most trusted’.

I like this Shep Smith; what time does his show air and what’s it called? (I won’t visit the FOX news website.)

The Uranium story was debunked a very long time ago by Snopes and Factcheck.org . The GOP is relying on the fact that making up lies and spreading them is easier and faster than researching the truth. And they are reaping the fruit of teaching people that all newspapers and broadcast news are liars and cannot be trusted, except for outlets like Fox and Breitbart who actually do lie all the time. This is one of the two worst things they have done to the US. The other is spreading the idea that government is inherently bad and evil and more wasteful than private businesses. Teaching people to despise democracy has hurt us badly.

I agree, and I think the first thing is actually much worse than the second thing: sowing distrust of the press (and anyone else who gathers or uses facts) deprives people of the tools needed to counteract blind mistrust of government and blind trust of wealth.

NPR did a similar takedown a day or two ago. They made the further point that uranium these days is plentiful and freely available on the world market, so the security implications are way less than they were during the Cold War.

"And they are reaping the fruit of teaching people that all newspapers and broadcast news are liars and cannot be trusted, except for outlets like Fox and Breitbart who actually do lie all the time."

Well no. I read--alot, mostly escapist garbage. But some good stuff too. I depend on reviews to guide me on my picks. For decades P. Schulyer Miller was the book reviewer for Analog magazine. I could depend on his reviews because I eventually learned his bias/standards/point-of-view and could take into account my differences and select books to read that the reviewer did not like because I understood that sometimes his reasons for panning the book were also reasons I would like it.

Now you tell me that Fox news does NOT lie all the time. They are inconsistent. I cannot rely on them to provide news with the fakery I expect. You are telling me I must actually fine-tune my own bull-shit detector and apply it carefully. In other words, think for myself.

Where is St. Brian (immortalized by Monty Python's biopic, 'Life of Brian') just when I need him?
