Michael D. Cohen, Trump’s Longtime Lawyer, Says He Paid Stormy Daniels Out of His Own Pocket
Michael D. Cohen, President Trump’s longtime personal lawyer, said on Tuesday that he had paid $130,000 out of his own pocket to a pornographic-film actress who had once claimed to have had an affair with Mr. Trump.
In the most detailed explanation of the 2016 payment made to the actress, Stephanie Clifford, Mr. Cohen, who worked as a counsel to the Trump Organization for more than a decade, said he was not reimbursed for the payment.
“Neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump campaign was a party to the transaction with Ms. Clifford, and neither reimbursed me for the payment, either directly or indirectly,” [What about Trump himself reimbursing you directly or indirectly Mikey?]Mr. Cohen said in a statement to The New York Times. “The payment to Ms. Clifford was lawful, and was not a campaign contribution or a campaign expenditure by anyone.”
He declined to answer several follow-up questions, [gee, I wonder why]including whether Mr. Trump had been aware that Mr. Cohen made the payment, why he made the payment or whether he had made similar payments to other people over the years.
Mr. Cohen has previously said that Mr. Trump has denied an affair with Ms. Clifford, whose stage name is Stormy Daniels. She has said the affair took place soon after Mr. Trump’s wife, Melania, gave birth to the couple’s son, Barron.
Mr. Cohen’s statement about what he called “a private transaction” was the first time that he had acknowledged a role in the payment, which was first reported in January by The Wall Street Journal.
Mr. Cohen said that he had given a similar statement to the Federal Election Commission in response to a complaint filed by the government watchdog group Common Cause, which contended that the payment, made through a limited liability company that Mr. Cohen established, was an in-kind contribution to the Trump campaign.
Ms. Clifford has not publicly denied an affair with Mr. Trump. A statement released by Mr. Cohen in her name in January denied an affair, but in interviews, she has refused to directly answer questions about it.
She is one of at least two women who claimed to have had affairs with Mr. Trump but who were kept silent through legal agreements. The other is Karen McDougal, a former Playboy model. Ms. McDougal sold her story to the company that owns The National Enquirer, but it was not printed, The Journal reported in 2016.
Hope Hicks, now the White House communications director, said at the time that the report of an affair was “totally untrue” and that the Trump campaign had “no knowledge” of any payment to Ms. McDougal.

Okay, let's take the claim, "Michael 'Which polls?' Cohen paid $130,000 to buy the silence of a porn actress out of the goodness of his heart, even though the claim that she had an affair with a married Donald Trump was false" and feed it into the trusty Laugh-O-Meter:

"Bro Code" gone wild.
Worst of all, they expect rational citizens to buy this crap. Sadly, 30% does.

Millions of Americans Demand $130,000 for Not Having Sex with Trump
WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Millions of Americans on Wednesday demanded that Donald J. Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael D. Cohen, issue them checks in the amount of $130,000 for not having sex with Trump.
After Cohen revealed that he had issued such a check to Stormy Daniels, a porn star who he claims never had intimate relations with his client, there was widespread outrage among other Americans who had also not had sex with Trump but had not been paid for not doing so.
“Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy for Stormy Daniels,” Tracy Klugian, a florist in Santa Rosa, California, said. “I just want my check, too.”
Harland Dorrinson, a bank teller in Akron, Ohio, said that he had already e-mailed Cohen to demand payment. “I have never come close to having sex with Trump, and that should be worth something,” he said. “Specifically, $130,000.”
But, even as millions of Americans clamored to be compensated for abstaining from sex with Cohen’s client, others, like Carol Foyler, of Tallahassee, Florida, took a different view. “Never having sex with Donald Trump should be a reward in itself,” she said.

Michael Cohen was, of course, acting out of the goodness of his heart.
I always wondered what 'pro bono' means. Now I know. If you are boning a pro, you pay her; or (better) get your lawyer to do it.

Looks like Mr. Cohen just put his foot in it big time:
Stormy Daniels 'free to tell her story' after Trump lawyer statement
n adult film star who has been embroiled in allegations of an affair with President Donald Trump is free to tell her story, her manager has said.
Stormy Daniels is no longer bound by a non-disclosure contract after Mr Trump's lawyer admitted he paid her, manager Gina Rodriguez says.
Mr Trump's personal lawyer confirmed in a statement to media he privately paid Ms Daniels $130,000 (£95,000) in 2016.
Ms Rodriguez says that acknowledgement allows her client to speak freely.
"Everything is off now, and Stormy is going to tell her story," Ms Rodriguez told the Associated Press on Wednesday.

And Drumpf is almost bullet proof at this point. Nothing will come of it outside of Melania possibly seeking a separation from Don Juan. I have a gut feeling she has finally had enough of the philandering bastard.

I don't know, a FEC investigation on top of Mueller's probings could be one scandal too many for this White House to handle. I think adding this onto Sarah Huckabee Sanders's plate will make the woman go full on unhinged, for one. That will be fun to watch.

She will wait until he's out of office. Though frankly I don't think she cares one way of another, she got what she wanted, and any time the oompa loompa spends in someone else's bed is time he's not trying to get into hers.

Scooter--didn't Edwards have a similar scandal when he was running for the nomination (someone paid off his pregnant mistress to keep quiet)? It did cause him to withdraw from the race but. as I recall, the investigation came to nothing (he may have been tried in court with a hung jury, but was not tried again--kind of like Menendez). I'd love to see Trump having big legal problems here, but I sincerely doubt he will.

Datsun--but it could be a lot of fun to watch a presidential separation/divorce; I was kind of hoping for the same with Hillary and Bill, but it didn't materialize. Imagine Melania throwing Trump's belongings out the White House Windows and telling him to leave; the DC cops showing up because of a domestic dispute; her talking in court and depositions about his small "size" and his lack of ability (even with Viagra); ... It would be a lot of fun, and just might distract him from making things worse.

Her body language shows that she is angry, very angry, with him; slapping his hand away when they are walking together, not standing during the SOTU address. She is mad and does not care if the public sees it, she might already be actively seeking an exit. But Trump already had two chances to learn how to prevent an ex-wife from becoming a rich ex-wife via prenuptials so she might have a complicated problem.

As I recall, Ivana made out OK under the prenup--somewhere in the $25 million range. they're not exactly being left destitute; although Melania may be waiting for Donald to kick the bucket after which she would likely get a lot more (prenup or no prenup). Face it, he's not in the greatest of shape, and the presidency (or really his antics) seem to be taking a toll on him.

I recall reading on the interwebs that Malaria got a new contract and is being paid extra to stick it out through Trump's presidency. I sure hope she got the money up front.

As I said, those were learning experiences. It is likely Melania is on a tighter leash. And his trust or estate will govern what she gets if he dies, which may not be that much. Recall Bing Crosby stiffing his wife and kids. Trump is mean and uses power ruthlessly. I bet he is doing that with his money as well.

Actually, in the history of all the presidents, he is in the greatest shape of all the presidents, the great ones and not so great ones, and he is a great one who is in great shape. Phenomenal shape. And making America great is what great presidents do and what he is doing bigly, better than anyone ever has. Sad, it is sad that you do not see this.
