Have you been watching Egypt?!?!?!

Post by Sue U »

Al Jazeera has been streaming live from Cairo.

Ruling party HQ is in fire. The Speaker of the Parliament was supposed to give a televised address, now they say Mubarak will speak to the nation. Holy crap!

So the question is: Is this Nicaragua where a group of leftist rebels overthrew a dictator and instituted democracy? Or is this Iran where a brutal dictator was overthrown only to have religious zealots take over.

Hmmmmmm.

He sphinx he's clever...
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

There's a pharoah way to go before any of this approaches anything resembling humour...

May the fleas of a thousand camels infest the crotch of the person who
mocks the Egyptians, and and may their arms be too short to scratch.

It seems as if the ruling class has been in deNile about its power base.

Actually nice to hear the military is not in lock step with the Egyptian MOTU.

I have such a lot of respect for those folks out in the street, day after day, protesting for freedom. I hope they prevail in getting some semblance of democracy. I fear for the other possibilities that may follow this show of defiance of authority. Mubarak just refused to step down, again. :(

He seems completely tone deaf to the desires to of the people (and it looks like the now army as well) I don't see it ending well for him if it gets to the point he's forcibly removed.

It's all going to come down to whether the army remain loyal to him, without them he's screwed...

Mubarak resigns, hands power over to the military.

I pray for the people of Egypt, that they have won the first step toward a democracy. About time for the cradle of civilization.
