What a load of total BS...

There's no evidence whatsoever that anti-Trump sentiment in the UK has turned into hostility towards Americans or America in general, but obviously the Trump Administration is trying to obscure the fact of Trump's personal unpopularity in Britain by conflating it as some sort "Anti-American" phenomena...(and then directing the US embassy to issue this politically driven "warning")

Far from being threatened, any American who finds themselves in the vicinity of an Anti-Trump demonstration during his visit would probably be inclined to join it, and would be welcomed warmly if they did so...

Agree 100%

A friend living over there right now (married to a Brit) is taking to the streets today, and definitely welcomed!

Boo hoo hoo....
Donald Trump admits he feels unwelcome in London ahead of mass protests over his visit

Prime Minister Theresa May has rolled out the red carpet for Mr Trump, who will spend time in the capital before leaving for Scotland at the weekend.

However, tens of thousands of people are expected to hit the streets on Friday in protest against his visit.

Image

And a blimp depicting Mr Trump as a baby – which stands at 20ft tall – will fly over Westminster.

In an interview with The Sun, the US president acknowledged the blimp and said London’s welcome is the reason why he won’t spend longer in the city.

He said: ‘I guess when they put out blimps to make me feel unwelcome, no reason for me to go to London.’
[Gee whiz, Bully Boy is really the World's Biggest Snowflake...what a surprise...]

Mr Trump has regularly clashed with London Mayor Sadiq Khan and believes he is doing a ‘terrible job’ standing up to terrorists.

The mayor gave permission for the baby blimp – set to be the lasting image from this week’s historic visit – to be flown in the capital.

Not content with pandering to racists in this country, Il Boobce uses his trip as an occasion to blow a big kiss to European White Nationalists:
Trump: Europe is 'losing its culture' because of immigration

President Trump is railing against what he described as the migration of "millions and millions of people" into Europe, declaring that the continent is "losing its culture" to refugees and asylum seekers from the Middle East and Africa.

In an interview with the British tabloid The Sun published Thursday, Trump said that it is a "shame" that European leaders had allowed so many migrants to enter their countries' borders.

“Allowing the immigration to take place in Europe is a shame," the U.S. president told the tabloid, which his owned by conservative media mogul Rupert Murdoch.

"I think it changed the fabric of Europe and, unless you act very quickly, it’s never going to be what it was and I don’t mean that in a positive way," he continued.

Trump's publicized comments came shortly after he arrived in the U.K. for a long-awaited trip on the heels of a tense set of meetings at the annual NATO summit in Brussels, where he delivered a blistering criticism of European allies and demanded that member nations pay more for defense.

The president's comments during his interview with The Sun, however, highlighted Trump's deeply held skepticism of immigration and resurfaced a line of attack that he had used often on the campaign trail – that Europe was being overrun by non-Europeans and was quickly becoming a shell of what it once was.

"I think you are losing your culture," he told the tabloid. "Look around. You go through certain areas that didn’t exist ten or 15 years ago."

In fact, migration levels to Europe have declined recently, dropping to numbers more common prior to 2015, when an influx of people sought to seek asylum on the continent to escape conflict and humanitarian crises in the Middle East and Africa.

Back in the U.S., Trump has led a crackdown on illegal immigration, warning that a failure to secure America's southern border would result in criminals and drugs entering the U.S.

That crackdown, however, has become the subject of controversy for the Trump administration, after it was revealed that thousands of migrant children had been separated from their parents at the border as part of enforcement efforts.

Prime Minister Theresa May has rolled out the red carpet for Mr Trump,
And how did that work out for you, Madam PM?
Trump detonates Brexit bomb in Britain visit

Analysis by Stephen Collinson, CNN

Updated 7:22 AM ET, Fri July 13, 2018

(CNN)With a friend like Donald Trump, Theresa May doesn't need enemies.

The President delivered an astonishing political knifing of the British Prime Minister on Thursday, comprehensively undermining her fragile position in Britain's tortuous negotiations on leaving the European Union and getting his visit to the country off to the most explosive of starts.
In an interview with the Rupert Murdoch-owned newspaper The Sun, Trump said May had ignored his advice on Brexit, he praised former Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson -- who has just walked out of her Cabinet over the issue -- and he said May's cherished hope of a free trade deal with the US would be killed off by her softened approach.

"She didn't listen to me," he told The Sun.

Trump's comments represent a stunning intervention in British domestic politics, especially since they came at the end of a week in which she lost three ministers, including Johnson, who said her approach is a betrayal of a referendum vote to leave the EU.

They are a fresh sign that Trump has no time for diplomatic niceties, is either oblivious to the political pressures that foreign leaders face or simply does not care about them and is willing to sow disruption wherever he goes in order to enhance his own outspoken political brand.
They are also just the latest instance of Trump, who cozies up to foreign strongmen like Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korea's Kim Jong Un, insulting or criticizing an allied leader.
GAH!

So, the Sun will have boobs on both page one and page three now? (Yes I know the fully nude versions ceased some years ago but that doesn't stop the Sun)

He's now calling the Sun article "fake news"!
Donald Trump has insisted he did not attack Theresa May in his bombshell newspaper interview, branding it “fake news”.

Speaking alongside her at Chequers, the president said: “I didn’t criticise the prime minister, I have a lot of respect for the prime minister.”

Mr Trump also stepped back from his warning, in The Sun, that her Brexit plan would “kill” any trade deal – as long as there were no “restrictions”.

Ms May herself ducked a question about the president’s savaging of her Brexit strategy, while insisting: “This does deliver on the vote of the British people.”

However, to her discomfort, Mr Trump confirmed he had given her a “suggestion” on how to pursue Brexit – while rejecting the word “advice” – saying: “I think she found it too brutal.”

In a comment certain to be leapt on by Brexiteer MPs, he added: “I can fully understand why she thought it was a little bit tough” – even suggesting she might yet adopt it, if her own plan failed.
This is a waste...
Gift from the prime minister to the president:

An illustrated ancestral chart of the Scottish heritage of President Trump through his mother, Mary Anne Macleod. She was born in 1912 on the Isle of Lewis in the Hebrides. The chart traces her family on both sides back three generations through official records and old parish registers. The family line goes back on the paternal side to the birth of President Trump’s great, great, great grandfather, Kenneth Macleod, born near Stornoway in 1776 – the year of the US declaration of independence.

The presentation is set against the background of the 19th century official ordnance survey map of the area, and also depicts scenes of Stornoway from later that century. The gift carries the crest of the Macleod clan and the Macleod tartan. President Trump is the first US president for over 100 years with a parent born in the UK. This gift underlines the deep historical links that many modern-day Americans have with the United Kingdom.

Gift from the Prime Minister and Mr May to Mrs Trump:

A bespoke perfume by J Floris Ltd. The fragrance is presented in a custom bottle engraved with the initials ‘MT’ and the scent is called the first lady. It comprises a number of elements with particular personal resonance, including: Sakura cherry Blossom, famed in Washington DC; rose heart for the National flower of the United States and England; and Bergamot with its distinctively British scent of Earl grey tea.

Established in 1730 by Juan Famenias Floris and his wife Elizabeth, Floris London is the oldest independent family perfumer in the world. The products are believed to have been used by Florence Nightingale, Winston Churchill, Marilyn Monroe and Princess Diana. The company is also Appointed Perfumer to Her Majesty the Queen.

Wes's usual iconoclastic spelling and punctuation leads me to wonder if he is referencing the Althing, the Icelandic Parliament. If yes, what the fuck is he talking about? If no, what the fuck is he talking about? Forgive my incomprehension.

Furthermore, two records in the Annals of Innisfallen may suggest that the Western Isles were not "organised into a kingdom or earldom" at this time but rather that they were "ruled by assemblies of freeholders who regularly elected lawmen to preside over their public affairs".[132] The Annals of the Four Masters entries for 962 and 974 hint at a similar arrangement.[133] Crawford (1987) suggests that influence from the south rather than the north was "usually predominant" whilst admitting that the islands probably formed "groups of more or less independent communities".[134]

perhaps I should have just said thing, instead of althing.

you can do the rest of the research yourself. I have read extensive scholarly tomes on Viking history.

God love Scotland!

https://www.scotsman.com/news/opinion/l ... -1-4767577

snip:
Donald Trump, due to arrive in the UK later today, is a racist, a serial liar, and either a sex abuser or someone who falsely brags about being one in the apparent belief that this will impress other men in a metaphorical “locker room”. To take each of these charges in turn, when black American football players protested against police shootings of innocent people of colour by refusing to stand for the national anthem, Trump said the players “maybe ... shouldn’t be in the country”.

And when white supremacists, neo-Nazis and armed militia groups demonstrated in Charlottesville, Virginia, over plans to remove a statue of a Confederate general – and a counter-protester was killed and others injured as a car was driven deliberately into them – Mr Trump claimed there were “very fine people” on both sides. Trump persistently pushed the lie that Barack Obama, the first African American president, was not born in the US. He has called for “total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States”, claimed Mexican immigrants were rapists and criminals, said Nigerians would never go back to “their huts” after seeing the US and described African countries, along with El Salvador and Haiti, as “s***holes”. Trump also argued that an Indiana-born judge handling a lawsuit against ‘Trump University’ was biased against him and unfit to take the case because he was a “Mexican”.

But, according to one count by The Washington Post, the president lies an average of 6.5 times a day. The New York Times has also tried to make a definitive list of his numerous falsehoods. In May, Rex Tillerson, sacked as US Secretary of State in a Trump tweet, warned: “If our leaders seek to conceal the truth, or we as people become accepting of alternative realities that are no longer grounded in facts, then we as American citizens are on a pathway to relinquishing our freedom.”Before his presidency, Trump was recorded saying he was able to grope women whenever he liked because “when you’re a star they let you do it”.

US embassy warns americans in London to keep a low profile

Of all my English relatives, the only one who is pro-Lord Dampnut is my retired cousin, Graham, who used to be a comptroller at Royal Bank of Scotland. He lives in Sussex and I bet half his neighbours are Americans. He's fine with Yanks.

I'd go over there tomorrow if I had the wherewithal.
