The cable news channels are on Death Watch as Rod heads to the White House...
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein expecting to be fired
WASHINGTON (WABC) --
A source familiar with the matter tells ABC News that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is heading to the White House Monday morning expecting to be fired.
President Donald Trump had previously sadi he was undecided about whether to fire Rosenstein following reports that he questioned the president's fitness to serve.
Trump told Geraldo Rivera in an interview aired Monday that he's looking at what, if anything, to do about Rosenstein's reported actions.
The New York Times first reported that in 2017, Rosenstein had proposed secretly recording Trump and suggested his removal from office. Trump laid blame for the controversy at the feet of his attorney general.
"He was hired by Jeff Sessions," Trump said in the interview, which was aired on "Fox & Friends." As for Rosenstein's future, Trump says, "We will make a determination. It's certainly a very sad story."
Rosenstein issued a pair of denials, saying The Times report is inaccurate.
And then Trump will appoint a hack to the position having the responsibility to oversee Mueller's activities, and the hack will end the witch hunt investigation. Hopefully, this will enrage the public and Congress into doing something (after all, the investigation is getting interesting and closer to Trump), but I somehow doubt it will
So the Failing New York Times and its Fake News from Phony Unnamed Sources is suddenly now Trump's unimpeachable authority on what Rod Rosenstein said and the circumstances in which the comments were made?
Six weeks before the election should be just the right lead time for the Democrats to make the most of this in the mid-terms. Buh-bye, GOP Congress!

And that Hillary loving anti-Trump deep state conspirator Andrew McCabe...
What a complete load of grandstanding horseshit...
If Trump's obstruction of justice co-conspirators in the House somehow manage to cobble together the majority needed to impeach Rosenstein, (a big if) it would be DOA in the Senate...
Just another opportunity for the House Vichy Republicans to make themselves look like complete idiots right before the election, and help to swell the dimensions of the Blue Wave...
Rosenstein and Trump to Meet on Thursday, White House Says
“At the request of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, he and President Trump had an extended conversation to discuss the recent news stories,” White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said in a statement, Bloomberg News reports. “Because the President is at the United Nations General Assembly and has a full schedule with leaders from around the world, they will meet on Thursday when the President returns to Washington, D.C.”
Well, that pretty much means that even if Trump was planning to fire Rosenstein, he's backed down, at least for the time being...
If The POS-In-Chief were truly going to fire him, as everyone knows from his track record he's too much of a chickenshit little pussy to ever do it face-to-face; a firing would come in a tweet or in a message delivered by somebody else, never in person...

I disagree. I think Lord Dampnut is looking for a fresh news cycle so as to appear super presidential and instill in the voting public a resolve that will resonate strongly for his sycophant, Repugs on November 6th.
“In a world whose absurdity appears to be so impenetrable, we simply must reach a greater degree of understanding among us, a greater sincerity.”

I think this is actually on target; firing Rosenstein today would step all over coverage of Trump's scheduled performance at the UN tomorrow morning, and he definitely wants all eyes on him. After all, what could go wrong?
I heard on early morning (about 0610 EDT) NPR radio that the Asst Attny Gen'l had resigned, and that existing law for these kind of positions meant that he would be replaced by the Solicitor General and POTUS would not chose the replacement, unless he first fired the 'new' asst attny genl, the then former Solicitor General. That is why resignation was the better tactic over waiting to be fired.
Later in the news cycle all that became very fuzzy. Seems to me accurate information about this is just not to be had at this time.
