I blame CNN...
‘Multiple Casualties’ Reported at Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooting, Police Say

The police in Pittsburgh reported “multiple casualties” after responding to a report of an active shooter at a synagogue, a police commander said.

The commander, Jason Lando, told CNN that “right now we have multiple casualties, we’re working the situation.”

Erika Strassburger, the city councilwoman for the district where the synagogue, the Tree of Life Congregation, is, said that “two police officers are down.”

It was not immediately clear how many other people had been shot.

It was unclear whether or not the gunman had been found.

Trump of course is calling for the death penalty: "People who do this should get the death penalty,” Trump said. “I think they should stiffen up laws and I think they should very much bring the death penalty to anybody who does a thing like this to innocent people.”

Now I don't want to get into a death penalty debate, so the point I am making is simply that the President seems to be misinformed. PA has the death penalty; as does FL (Pulse Nightclub and Marjory Stoneman High School; as does NV (Las Vegas); as does KY (the Kroger shooting I was talking about on another thread). There are arguments for and against, but it does not seem to be putting off the gun turds.

In fairness to Donald, I saw that short interview and he seemed to be generalizing about the death penalty and saying that we need to bring the death penalty back "into vogue" (probably not the best choice of words), along with not letting people who are sentenced to death to delay the execution in court for so many years.

Other than that, he's still Trump. An immature misogynistic racist vindictive narcissist.

If Trump ever read a book - or even an article - he might know that numerous studies have established that the death penalty has no deterrent effect.

And of course he blamed the synagogue for not having armed security, despite the fact that 4 trained police officers were wounded attempting to stop the mass murderer.

I understand your frustration. Me? I pray daily that Lord Dampnut falls victim of a hemorrhagic stroke. Still living, still aware, but making even less sense than ever before, and subsequently having Congress invoke the 25th Amendment. (I'll start praying for Pence after that.) Unfortunately, this prayer stuff NEVER works for me.

Until then, my only recourse is stopping by my local polling place whenever it's open.

Have we really come to the point where our houses of worship need armed security? It's really obscene.

There is two forms of hatred I don’t understand homo-hate and anti-Semitism. Usually individuals develop feeling of hatred toward other groups because they have been victimized by members of those groups in some way like being rape, robed or assaulted. I am not saying it is right but it is human. You don’t make people better by abusing them you make them worse. A woman who has been raped by a man might fear and hate all men and have a hard time trusting any man.

That begs the question why would people develop hatred towards Jews. I am not aware of gangs of Jews go around raping, robing and brutalizing people. Moslems might hate Jews because of the conflict between the Jews and the Palestinians. But if one looked at the conflict objectively one have to admit that the actions of the Jewish state are reasonable considering the dangers they face. Some may resent the fact that Jews tend to be richer than the average American. But that has not always been the case and the Jews have not done anything other groups or individuals couldn’t do. If one’s priorities are drinking beer, partying and buying two hundred dollar tennis shoes instead of working, saving and investing their money wisely they have no one to blame for the lack of money except themselves.
Soon, I’ll post my farewell message. The end is starting to get close. There are many misconceptions about me, and before I go, to live with my ancestors on the steppes, I want to set the record straight.

Prosecutors will pursue death penalty against accused Pittsburgh synagogue shooter Robert Bowers

The U.S. Attorney’s Office intends to pursue the death penalty against Robert Bowers, who has been accused of shooting and killing 11 people in a Pittsburgh synagogue Saturday.

U.S. Attorney Scott Brady said late Sunday that he has already begun the process to get Attorney General Jeff Sessions' approval for a capital case against the 46-year-old man, who also wounded six people, including four law enforcement officers.

According to police, Bowers walked into the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh Saturday, armed with an AR-15 rifle and three Glock .357 handguns, and opened fire.

His victims range from 54 to 97 years old.

After a shootout with police, Bowers told a SWAT team member that he wanted to “kill Jews” because “they’re committing genocide to my people,” according to the complaint.

His social media posts include similar anti-Semitic messages, including his Gab profile header: “jews are the children of satan.” He also accused the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS), a Jewish nonprofit that aids refugees, of trying “to bring invaders in that kill our people.”

“I can't sit by and watch my people get slaughtered,” he wrote Saturday morning, just hours before the shooting. “Screw your optics, I'm going in."

Bowers faces 29 federal charges, including obstructing the free exercise of religious beliefs and using a firearm to commit murder, as well as 11 state counts of criminal homicide, six counts of aggravated assault and 13 counts of ethnic intimidation.

Mayor Bill Peduto called it the "darkest day of Pittsburgh's history."

"The Jewish community is the backbone, it is part of the fabric of Pittsburgh," he said. "We have been knocked down before, but we have always been able to stand back up because we stay together."

This POS certainly looks like a most worth recipient for the death penalty; just like Dylann Roof...It is difficult to imagine a more vile and cowardly act than murdering innocent, unarmed people gathered together for worship...

And here's something else (surprise surprise) Trump got wrong:
Trump falsely says NYSE opened day after Sept. 11 attacks to justify holding rally after Pittsburgh shooting

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump falsely claimed Saturday that the New York Stock Exchange re-opened the day after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in an effort to justify holding a rally on the same day that a mass shooting occurred at a synagogue in Pittsburgh.

Speaking at a planned campaign rally in Illinois, Trump said he had weighed whether to cancel his rally as well as a speech at an agricultural convention earlier in the day in Indianapolis, Indiana, but ultimately decided against it, saying such a move would amount to giving the killer an edge. He compared his decision to continue with the rally to reopening the NYSE after the September 11 attacks, something that did not happen.

"And with what happened early today -- that horrible, horrible attack in Pittsburgh -- I was saying maybe I should cancel both this and that," Trump said, referring to the rally and his earlier appearance at the agricultural convention.

"And then I said to myself, I remember Dick Grasso, a friend of mine, great guy. He headed up the New York Stock Exchange on September 11. And the New York Stock Exchange was open the following day. He said -- and what they had to do to open it you wouldn't believe. We won't even talk to you about it. But he got that exchange open." [It might be possible to just chalk this up to Trump's bottomless reservoir of ignorance, were the lie not so elaborate and detailed...I guess Grasso re-opened the stock exchange the next day to show defiance to those thousands of Palestinians dancing on roof tops in New Jersey...]

In fact, as CNN reported at the time, the NYSE closed after the attacks and did not reopen until September 17 because many of the workers were lost or injured in the attack on the World Trade Center, which was just blocks from the NYSE in Manhattan's financial district, and much of the communications and utilities needed to trade stocks were damaged or destroyed.

It was the longest shutdown for the NYSE since the Great Depression.

Bloomberg first reported Trump's error.

I presume Dick Grasso is dead by now; otherwise, four words from him — "I didn't do that" — would torpedo that statement from Trump just as surely as the Germans torpedoed the Lusitania.
Notice too how the Liar-in-Chief never actually says anything that Grasso supposedly said?
And of course, by prefacing the remark with "I remember" he leaves himself the ability to walk it back by saying something like, 'Well, I guess I remembered wrong.'

You know, it's a known fact that people hate clowns.   Why are there still so many people in love with this clown in the White House??

Good for them!
Jewish Leaders To Trump: ‘You Are Not Welcome In Pittsburgh Until You Denounce White Nationalism’

A group of Jewish leaders told President Trump that he is not welcome in Pittsburgh until he fully denounces white nationalism after 11 worshipers were murdered by an anti-Semite at a synagogue Saturday morning.

Eleven members of the Pittsburgh affiliate of Bend the Arc: A Jewish Partnership for Justice penned a letter to Trump following the shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue, allegedly carried out by Robert Gregory Bowers, 46.

Read their full letter below:
President Trump:

Yesterday, a gunman slaughtered 11 Americans during Shabbat morning services. We mourn with the victims’ families and pray for the wounded. Here in Mr. Rogers’ neighborhood, we express gratitude for the first responders and for the outpouring of support from our neighbors near and far. We are committed to healing as a community while we recommit ourselves to repairing our nation.

For the past three years your words and your policies have emboldened a growing white nationalist movement. You yourself called the murderer evil, but yesterday’s violence is the direct culmination of your influence.

President Trump, you are not welcome in Pittsburgh until you fully denounce white nationalism.

Our Jewish community is not the only group you have targeted. You have also deliberately undermined the safety of people of color, Muslims, LGBTQ people, and people with disabilities. Yesterday’s massacre is not the first act of terror you incited against a minority group in our country.

President Trump, you are not welcome in Pittsburgh until you stop targeting and endangering all minorities.

The murderer’s last public statement invoked the compassionate work of the Jewish refugee service HIAS at the end of a week in which you spread lies and sowed fear about migrant families in Central America. He killed Jews in order to undermine the efforts of all those who find shared humanity with immigrants and refugees.

President Trump, you are not welcome in Pittsburgh until you cease your assault on immigrants and refugees.

The Torah teaches that every human being is made b’tzelem Elohim, in the image of God.

This means all of us.

In our neighbors, Americans, and people worldwide who have reached out to give our community strength, there we find the image of God. While we cannot speak for all Pittsburghers, or even all Jewish Pittsburghers, we know we speak for a diverse and unified group when we say:

President Trump, you are not welcome in Pittsburgh until you commit yourself to compassionate, democratic policies that recognize the dignity of all of us.

:ok :ok

I have also been looking into the organization the shooter condemned , HIAS; it looks like a pretty good organization to make a donation to. Perhaps if enough of us do send money for the resettlement work, his head will explode; and even if it doesn't, we will be halping some of the most helpless among us.
