No my daughter is not a coal miner but she is approaching retirement age. And social security will be an important part of her retirement. And liberals are apparently determined to destroy SS by over loading it with untold numbers of immigrants legal and illegal. When more money is going out of the system than coming in it will crash.

Please elaborate what this "over loading" entails and how it will destroy SS. Personally, I would think more people working and contributing to the system is the key to continuing benefits, but maybe you are referring to something else.

The problem is that people get back a lot more than they pay in and it has to be that way or there would not be nearly enough money. The lowest level recipients are barely surviving as it is now. Minimum wage workers just don’t pay enough to support the system. What we need is many more highly paid workers to pay into social security not more poor immigrants. If the immigrants were rich we wouldn’t have problem. The financial problems with social security system will only get worse when robots eliminate 40 % of the jobs.

Now me, I am all in favor of aliens with fake working papers. All the money they pay into the SS funds via payroll withholding is a free gift to the system because they cannot take anything out. As far as I can tell, they are taking away jobs from Americans who would not take those jobs anyway--cleaning toilets, picking strawberries, hod carriers, roofing workers. (All jobs I worked and vowed never again)

I do very carefully and regularly clean my own toilet. But Crackpot, you are wrong. People do complain mightily when they cannot use the 'facility' because it is being cleaned.

those jobs will still have to be done anyway so someone will be getting the benefit (whether immigrant or native born); and given the cap on the tax, high wage earners pay a lot less of their income to social security. we just need everyone working and paying into it.

As for robots, we'll deal with that when we come to it; but from what I have seen, there obots will replace the better paying jobs, not the low level ones. I've seen robots that can run manufacturing machines, but not one which can clean and make up a hotel room.
