Mexico simply refused to export anything to the USA next Monday? NO car parts for MANY models. NO cars from many major manufacturers. NO Avocados (which I wouldn't miss much). NO major airplane assemblies from Cessna's plant in Guadalajara. We eat a LOT of food from Mexico, especially in the winter.

For one thing, assembly lines all over the country would be affected, and might shut down in a week or so.

Yes: especially because manufacturers spend billions on working out their supply chains. They suspect that these tariffs will be temporary - either they wait them out and share the cost of the tariff with suppliers, importer, shareholders and customers; or they spent $$$ on establishing and certifying alternate sources. That establishing of alternates will, of course, be a further cost borne eventually by the consumer.

So now we're getting a new wall around the White House for $64 million. I've looked at the maps; the WH grounds are 7.3 hectares and without measuring it's probably a little over one km around. Call it a mile for the sake of argument. $64 mill for a mile of fence is about $12,000 per foot of fence. I don't suppose they stock it at Home Depot, but I'd love to see who gets that contract.

I bet it's made of titanium and will have a poured concrete base, and loaded with detection/deterrent devices.

Probably still not worth $12K per foot, however, but some PAC sponsored contractors have to make a few bucks.

I heard it's also going to include a moat, complete with moat monsters.
