wes--re Puerto Rico statehood, you should lobby Trump (who said they should not be looking at statehood right now--he'd rather throw them paper towels, and Congress who has not acted since the 2017 plebescite that approved statehood. I don't think there's a big push for any more states, especially Puerto Rico.

It that were a criterion, we would not be ready fro nationhood. Please; there are a lot of people feeding at that trough, and they're not all in Puerto Rico.

As for what is "best for them", how long have you lived there? Have you even visited? How would you have any inklin of an idea of what is "best for them?

As for rejecting statehood and independence in the past , yes they have (except in the most recent plebescite, where statethood prevailed), with statehood and continued commonwelath status nearly tied and independence coming in at around 2% of the vote. But you know what's best for them better than they do.

And as for "control of everyone"--the right is hardly the champion of civil rights. From abortion, to drug laws, to support of censorship, to just about every social conservative policy I have seen, the desire to control everone burns birghtly within that camp.

Are there those on the left that also seek that sort of social control--certainly; but it is not a key plank of the patform in the way that restriction/preventing access to abortion, for that matter) is for the right.
