b0th are really ab0ut liberty.

just as trump s m0vement is.
The guy thinks supporting a blatantly corrupt, Constitution shredding, rule of law trampling, power abusing autocrat who's hell bent to replace our Republic with his own Third World style lawless oligarchy somehow makes him a defender of liberty.... :loon :loon :loon

It's pretty damn obvious who's confused...

And in another thread, we have another Trump supporter talking about how important it is to "stand up to tyranny"...

Saying you became a Trump supporter because you support liberty or oppose tyranny is like saying you joined the KKK to support racial equality and oppose racism...

Your thread title and the first sentence of your OP (all one sentence, actually) claimed that the strike was the work of the yellow vests.

Then you said it wasn't.

Not my problem that you can't remember what you've said from one post to the next such that you completely contradict yourself.

Man, talk about projecting...

The fact is wes, when you decide to attack other national leaders based on their alleged lack of maturity, it is entirely appropriate to point out the lack of maturity in the national leader who you slavishly support...

That isn't "trolling"; it's providing the context that your opinion should be viewed through in determining the level of seriousness and credibility your words on the topic deserve...

West Virginia Government Employees Suspended After Giving Nazi Salute

Image

A number of West Virginia government employees were suspended Wednesday after a recent photo emerged showing them performing a Nazi salute.

The photo shows roughly 30 employees of the state’s Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety making the racist gesture, which was used to hail German dictator Adolf Hitler while he oversaw the slaughter of millions of Jews during World War II. They posed under the text “HAIL BYRD!” ― a phrase similar to the one used to salute Hitler.

The photo identifies the group as members of Basic Training Class #18, a group of correctional officers trained in October and November.

News of the suspensions broke when DMAPS cabinet secretary Jeff Sandy sent a letter to staff on Wednesday regarding the matter. Local WCHS-TV was the first to report on it Thursday morning, when the exact contents of the photo had not yet been made public.

“I have seen the photo of Basic Training Class Number 18. I condemn it in the strongest possible terms,” Sandy wrote. “It is distasteful, hurtful, disturbing, highly insensitive and completely inappropriate.”

He did not offer a specific number on the suspensions, only that the action had been taken against “a number” of employees.

Later Thursday, The Charleston Gazette-Mail and other outlets published the photo after obtaining it through a public records request, though DMAPS blurred the faces of the people in the photo.

Earlier, local outlets speculated the text may be a reference to the state’s former U.S. Senator Robert C. Byrd (D), who was a member of the white supremacist group the Ku Klux Klan but later denounced it.

An attorney for Gov. Jim Justice (R) later told the Gazette-Mail that the reference to “Byrd” in the photo refers to the training class’ director, a role that the state’s Department of Corrections cites as “critical for success of the program” and responsible for guiding trainees through the program.
More than 100 Jewish graves defaced in France with Nazi swastikas

More than 100 Jewish graves have been defaced with Nazi swastikas in an antisemitic attack in France.

The graves were found spray-painted with antisemitic inscriptions in the town of Westhoffen, near Strasbourg, on Tuesday – the same day as a similar incident in the nearby village of Schafhouse-sur-Zorn.

France has Europe’s biggest Jewish community – about 550,000 – and antisemitic attacks are common, with more than 500 alone in 2018.

French president Emmanuel Macron said “Jews are and make France” in a tweet in response to the attack.

He added: “Those who attack them, even in their graves, are not worthy of the idea we have of France.”

In a visit to Westhoffen on Wednesday, interior minister Christophe Castaner announced the French government would create a national anti-hate crime office.

Speaking alongside Jewish leaders, Mr Castaner condemned the graffiti as a sign that “hate is on our national territory”.

“We must respect the right to believe,” he said.

A special police unit has begun investigating the incident and the new national office will seek to fight hate crimes, he added.

The graffiti marked the latest in a string of antisemitic acts in the Bas-Rhin region.

(CNN) The German city of Dresden has declared a "Nazi emergency" after years of "right-wing extremist, racist" activity in the city, a local councilor says.

Dresden city councilors this week passed a resolution warning that the far-right was growing in strength in the eastern German city.

"The word 'Nazinotstand' is an exaggerated formulation for the fact that there is a serious problem -- similar to the climate emergency -- with right-wing extremism right up to the middle of society," Max Aschenbach, councilor for the satirist Die Partei (The Party), told CNN.

Aschenbach, who tabled the motion, told CNN the move was symbolic and would have no legal consequences, but that it served to highlight the threat posed by the far right in Dresden.

Dresden is where the the PEGIDA movement (Patriotic Europeans against the Islamization of the West) first emerged in 2013, and regular rallies are still held in the city.

Anti-immigrant sentiment runs high in the state of Saxony, of which Dresden is the capital: The Alternative for Deutschland (AfD) won 27.5% of the vote in this year's state election.

The AfD became the first far-right party to enter Germany's national parliament in almost 60 years when it came in third place overall in federal elections in 2017.

Aschenbach said his resolution, which was put forward to show commitment to a "democratic, open, pluralistic society," was put to a vote by Dresden's city council on Wednesday, and passed by 39 votes to 29.

"For years, politicians have failed to position themselves clearly and unequivocally against the right-wing extremists, and to outlaw them," Aschenbach told CNN, adding that he wanted Dresden's city council to support citizens' initiatives, education and culture in the city.

A representative for the center-right Christian Democratic Union party, which voted against the resolution, called it an "intended provocation."

Jan Donhauser, chairman of the CDU group on Dresden council, told CNN there was no state of emergency, and that the wording of the resolution was damaging to the city's international reputation.

"The choice of words in the title of the application does not do justice to the realities in our city: the vast majority of Dresdeners are neither right-wing extremists nor anti-democratic," he said.

It seems strange that we are still so passionately opposed to the swastika or an open-palm salute — which, by the way, was also the preferred method of salutation among the Roman empire of Tiberius, Juvenal, Julius Caesar, et al — while the music of Richard Wagner, which was also beloved by the monsters of the Third Reich, has managed to shake off the taint of Nazism to the point that we have accepted its use as the soundtrack for movies ("Apocalypse Now"), cartoons (such as the Warner Brothers/Chuck Jones classic, "What's Opera, Doc?"), and commercials for everything from cassette tapes to cars to men's grooming products.  And speaking of cars, of course, less than twenty years after the war's conclusion we were welcoming Hitler's "peoples' car" (the Volkswagen) to America with open arms.

Oh well.  Maybe by 2120 we'll be able to overlook the connection between Nazis and a swastika.  Too bad I won't be around to see it though.

Or how many are probably both? After all, it's West Virginia, one of the most racist, and under-educated states in the Union.
