That had to be the most disjointed — monologue? — it has been my misfortune to listen to.  All I got out of it was that there was this chicken-processing job.  And, probably because a lot of people don't want to spend their work day knee-deep in dead chickens and chicken guts), they pay more than some other job somewhere baking cookies.  And he's bent out of shape about the fact that illegal immigrants *ARE* willing to do this kind of work — and all sorts of other bullshit, menial, repetitive drudgery jobs that "normal" Americans feel are "beneath" them — and those greedy bastards who run the plants will hire them for cheap to cut their costs and make themselves more money.

At least I think that's what he was saying.  I'm still not 100% sure.

Well, shit!  If I need someone to kill, pluck, and gut my chickens and get them to market, I'll hire anyone who is willing to do it — ghetto blacks, white trailer trash, college graduates who found out that their degree is about as much good to them as the perforated paper roll in the rest room, little green men from Mars — or even people who just snuck under the border fence.  Just show up to work sober and not tripping on meth/crack/PCP/anything else, and meet your quota, and we'll get along just fine.

He knows he's full of shit; he just does it to annoy those of us who genuinely do cherish the Constitution...

Granted, it's a Yahoo article but the information comes from a New York Times story, which is hidden behind a paywall.

I might note that one of the key take-aways here is this (emphasis mine):

Koch Foods representatives did not return requests for comment.  The company, which has said it did not knowingly hire workers without legal status (me: hah!), has challenged the raid on its Morton plant in federal court, calling it an “illegal search” and demanding the return of seized property and records.
Bryan Cox, a spokesman for ICE, said there was a continuing criminal investigation into the operation and hiring practices at all of the Mississippi plants.  No executives from the targeted companies have been charged.

For the record, Koch Foods (which, btw, has no connection to Koch Industries or the Koch Brothers) is listed by Forbes magazine as the 163rd largest privately-held company in the US.

So there you have it.  And that last line is the most damning.  It's just another case of the big guys doing what they want, bending rules and cutting corners, and when — and if — they get caught at it they bring out the high-priced lawyers, drag the thing through the Byzantine backways of the bureaucracy and the courts, end up paying a fine, and overall look at it as just part of the costs of doing business; and so long as the owners or managers or people in charge of personnel get a free pass, it's gonna continue to be that way.
